Almost there guys.

I am having trouble getting everything to play well together on one disk in a regular DVD player. Once I get several hundred menus and audio clips on the disk it won't play in a stand alone player. Of course a computer will play it just fine. Same old song.

I have determined it is a fatal software error (no a user error), and there is no getting around it. The program craps out when it hits a random number of titles to menu pages once you get over a hundred or so, and defaults to one master title. I have two lite DVDs (2.0pcm & 5.1 DD) ready to go to get past this obstacle, but the disk format and menu system is well $#!+. I do not want to release these.

I tried to start over in Adobe Encore last weekend, but it is a nightmare. You have to switch between Encore, Premiere, and Photoshop constantly to do anything. Major pain in the @$$. If I wanted this much aggravation I would have sourced a used copy of Scenarist.

As it stands I have the crappy ones ready, but I am in the process of downloading the new DVD Architech 4.0 right now. I am hoping there is a fix for my problem in the newest version. My DVD A 2.0 that came with Vegas 5.0 is getting a little long in the tooth anyways.

Maybe the wife won't scrutinize the budget when she gets back.

Everyone cross your fingers.

YES!

Thank you, who ever it was that crossed your fingers.

The new version can import the old projects, and I have a use to be "non-working" demo playing through my stand alone player as I type. Looks like I will get to have everything on one disk, and finish it this weekend after all.

Now to get back to work.

I'm voting for FTP. I still have nothing good to say about torrents except I'm sure they would work well if we were still in the 14.4 modem era.

Actually bitorrent is far better now than it was then, namely because of the increased speeds. At home we get 2 mb/s up, and 15 down. You get a bunch of people with speeds like this and your downloads will easily exceed 500kb/s for everyone. This way, it doesn't cost anyone any extra money.

However, since people are offering their spare bandwidth, FTP ftw.

My wife came home a day early, so I have to do the Easter thing today after all.

With that said I finished getting all the info on the DVD yesterday. I am happy to say it is running smooth, and faster than before. Now I just have to do a total run through on it to make sure all of the nav buttons are correct. No big deal.

Once that is done I'm going to overnight a copy to swithey an maybe 80211mdr ( I haven't talked with him yet. ), and they will set it free.

Now if there is anything special you might need, to test out your setup please let me know quickly, and I will see what I can do. I want this to be in swithey's hands before next weekend. Other than a few of you, you guys have been very quiet in this area, so don't blame me when what you need isn't on there.

Last call...

Whenever the .iso gets out I will also make a torrent and post it here. I have a dedicated seed machine with a ~120 kilobyte/sec upload and I can seed for months if needed.

I'm getting itchy for this dvd. Really looking forward to putting my crappy rca 10" thru it's paces and possibly blow it for an excuse for a new diy sub.

What a day.

I'm coming home, and about an hour away from home some kid t-bones my new car while I was cruising down 82.

An hour later I'm watching my car being towed away, and getting into a POS loaner.

Then three miles from my house I have a flat with the POS. If that isn't bad enough there was only a spare tire. No tire iron. No jack.

The last hour home cost me a new car, $40 to fill the POS up (there was suppose to be gas in it, but the needle had failed,) a good shirt, and four hours of my life. What an evening.

Sorry, had to vent. I'm going to bed now.

torrenting something like this is far easier, faster, and more productive than an ftp. if people need help knowing how to grab a torrent I'm sure some people can jump in and give a heads up howto

Let's stay civil guys.

First it will travel by UPS/FedEx
Next an ftp will be set up first to get it out.
Then a torrent will emerge.
After that who knows? What ever distribution method you guys come up with.

At this point it could still turn out to suck to all of you, and all this talk is for naught.

OK, I have the release candidate playing on my system right now.

I have to admit that I want to put more on it, but I'm ready to be done with it for awhile. It only runs 850meg on the DVD right now, but it is around 2gigs before the DVD conversion. I need another gig of ram before I can do anymore.

I'm shipping out the first copy tomorrow.

I have went over everything, but please post anything weird you find. It should be 100%, but there was a lot of ground to cover for just one guy. Just post it here and I'll get a corrected copy out. I am also willing to do a second version later on in the year, if you guys find something lacking from the disk.

A few notes:
-Most everything is recorded at -20dB or -10dB per channel. If it is a special case it will say so. To keep the "oh $#!T" moments to a minimum.
-The PCM half is recorded as is. This means that it is going to be 4dB lower than the DD parts on some receivers. Thank Dolby and Dialnorm.
-This disk is recorded at full 100% levels. This means it will be 4dB higher than say Avia.
-The LFE channel is recorded as is. -20dB is 95dB not 85dB.
side note: Avia doesn't use LFE to set the LFE levels, I am getting a clash there with my setup. FYI

Time for LOST.

I will be hosting the file on my FTP server. However, PLEASE DO NOT PM me with status. I will post here as soon as I get it loaded on the site.

I'm looking forward to the DVD myself!
