Jai,

Could you please post pictures of your boxes before mounting the drivers and PR's. Also, if you would please post any dimensional drawings of your box design I would really appreciate it. I'm considering a DIY project similar to yours, but I am having a hard time choosing between a simple sealed design or one using PR's.

Thanks a million.

Jai,

What was the final design you arrived at?

I apologize; however, with this topic now hitting 29 pages I seemed to have lost focus.

I have a message out to TC inquiring to the 5400's availability; I want to pick up a pair on the next build.

Thanks for the update and please keep the photos coming!

Regards,

Larry

UPDATE:
Please post your replies in this new thread as this one has gotten too long to the point of being useful to others
Jai's LMS-5400/Passive Radiator design.
This may help in avoiding reaching 1K posts

"calibrated to 80dB reference at MV 0"

Could you explain what that means?

Not the cheapest solution but how bout an IB small cube with four of those RE XXX 18s? Would be the highest output/size ratio IB probably every implemented, lol. 54 mm xmax

Would need some serious amp muscle i'd guess, a PLX 3602 would probably drive four of those nicely in an IB i'd guess but maybe not.

On the other hand if size is not an issue multiple Q18s could destroy things if that's your fancy, ha. 8 Would cost right around 2300 with 12 being a 1150 more or so. Would be overkill but hey, you said ya had $5k to play with

29 Litres of Infinite Baffle Bliss. Oh, and the rest of the setup isn't too shabby either!

Means you're getting 80dB SPL when your master volume level is at 0dB, I'd guess.

"Vintage" is good for wine, not for A/V equipment.

Yes, 80dB with test tones and about 116dB peaks on bass intense movie scenes. Occassionally I calibrate the subs 3dB hot and I hit close to 120dB. New responses can be posted in this thread
