So, a friend was over here last week, saw my catalog from PE and saw the TriTrix speakers..... and said to me "can you make those?" I said "sure can" so we headed off to Lowes.... got a sheet of MDF, came home cut it up and I started gluing. 2 days later I'm looking online to order the parts and the drivers are out of stock!!! OH NOES!! But I see the date when they should be back in stock 7/4/07 no big deal.... only a 2 week delay.... even though my buddy needs these since he has nothing after his roomate moved out, and i assured him I could have these done in about 2 weeks.....

Today im checking the date on the shipment..... and now its 7/10 uh oh!! so I tell my buddy.... he's not happy.... kinda disappointed with the deal, and now he want to go off and buy some Klipsch ones on ebay!!!! so now im stuck with cabinets that are 90% built, and just need to be finished.....

To top it all off.... I decided to check out PE's support.... and there is a topic in there about the drivers that I need 295-302. Someone called PE and they are saying that they wont be in untill aug/sep-ish NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

So here I thought I could bang this one out of the park.... and im stuck at first base

This wouldn't exactly be as cheap as the TriTrix, but I think it would quite easily work with the enclosures you built.

If you had already put in your order they will come on the projected date when you put your order in. What happened is the re-supply must have sold out. This happened to me once but PE sent me my order on the projected date when I put my order in.

Or, you could find a driver with the same cutout size and a similar Fs and Qts. Transmission lines are pretty forgiving I think.

Here are some possibilities;

*EDIT: Disregard - I used the wrong impedence*

hmmm.... if it's forgiving.... then I might have to do that..... But what about the xover, do I have to change that a touch too?

all in all..... if these end up sounding decent, then im going to match em up with a center and surrounds. Center usign the same design, just in a sealed cabinet, and for the surrounds.... well, thats another build thread

Also, I read on PE's support site that you can't use the 8 ohm versions.... otherwise I would just use http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showd...number=295-301 since its the same

Quite possibly. This would be something to do if a) you can't wait and b) you don't mind experimenting a bit. At the least you may want to buy some small non-inductive resistors to pad the tweeter with (since the woofer had a decent sensitivity).

And, yes, I should have noticed that the original woofers were 4 ohm - that will mess up the x-over. Disregard the ones I posted. Maybe try these?

http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showd...number=295-372

The guys at DIYaudio have a lot more experience playing with TLs then I do. It may be worth a quick peek.

damnit all

http://www.pesupport.com/cgi-bin/config.pl?read=361076

"Due to the popularity of the "The TriTrix" speaker project the demand for this has exceeded our supply. We are doing our best to replenish stock and will air ship some in as soon as possible. However; it doesn't look like that will happen until August. We will have a better ETA in a week or so. We sincerely apologize for this but some things are just beyond our control. "

Hey I'm thinking about building the Zaph Audio MTM project too after not being able to get everything for the TriTrix in time.

I just have 2 quick questions before I start building:

1. What enclosure would be best? I'm not going to use a subwoofer with it and space isn't a HUGE concern (although smaller is always better). From just glancing over the link, it sounds like I should use a large sealed enclosure (1.5-2 cu ft.)

2. What would be a good amp to power them? They are going to be used as bookshelf speakers in a college dorm room. I would want to play CDs, hook up an iPod, and possibly hook up a laptop (though an external sound card maybe?)

Thanks for the help

I'm presently designing a redo of the Triune TL. This is the same enclosure as the Tritrix TL only uses the 295-301 drivers in a parallel configuration. I've redesigned the crossover, but haven't yet had a chance to listen to it yet. I should have a solution for you yet this week.
-Keep an eye on the PE forum, I'll announce it there...

FWIW I can confirm the design Willd linked *should* work in the TL box for the TriTrix assuming the Triune drivers drop right in (with, of course, a Triune specific crossover). It works in any box tuned for a Triune - one nifty thing about the RS150 is its box match for the classic Dayton drivers. Makes a nice upgrade path for folks.

I bet those have nice bass like my designs
TS 206.5 towers!

I designed these about 5 years ago and have them in use now for the last 3 1/2 years. I love they way they sound

I built the prototypes to listen to and then sell I liked them so much I kept them and got rid of my od Cerwin Vegas.
