After several futile attempts to get my brother's people to get some enclosures done (they are on back order again on the pro side), the fine folks at Elemental Designs gave the nod to building a pair of sealed boxes, each housing 2 SDX-15's.

Here is a pic of the drawing ....

When complete, we will be checking them out with a few different amps ... the Buttkicker, the Behringer EP-2500, and maybe a Crown or 2.

ALSO ...

I ordered the A7-900 twin 18 inch sub, too.

Does anyone else wants to see how one of these compares to the JL Gotham?

Pretty please.

Absolutely ... starting with blind tests. Based on the models, it should be about 4-5 dB more powerful @ 20 Hz.

I have pre-warned my wife about all three boxes coming. Does anyone want to wager whether or not she wigs out when she actually SEES them ?

If you don't mind me asking, how much is ED charging you for the boxes? Is that dual panels on the front and single panels on the side? Or triple and double?

They are single one inch panels for the sides and backs, and dual one inch laminated for the front baffles.

Including delivery, $425 per enclosure.

I just had the kitchen and master bathroom re-done for her. She was feeling like a sport ... I even showed her the pics and gave her the dimensions before ordering.

Of course, when they arrive ...

Wow... that box is almost exactly the same size as the ported 15" I'm building. Yeah, three of those is likely to freak the wife out a bit.

My friends still can't get over that I'm building one that big.

Very interesting! Imo $425 per (delivered) is a very fair price! My SDX is hitting very hard and have been quite impressed, but so little time with work and selling the house.

I think you mean the twin 15"? Maybe they have a new offering? I'll bounce on over and take a peak after posting. Regardless, it'll be interesting. Now there's a dual driver sub that size increases proportionally with the added driver.

Edit> I can see the A7-900 would be a
18" model. What is that guy Ed going to come up with next?

At 425/enclosure, would it have been cheaper to find a local cabinetry shop build it for you?

I'm going to be starting on mine soon once we get all this house selling business squared away.

Out of curiosity, why put both drivers on the same side of the box? Most dial-driver sealed boxes I've seen have the drivers opposed.

We build dual 18 inch pro-audio subs that can deliver 140 dB @ 40 Hz. Both drivers are on the front baffle.

There is no legit reason not to place dual drivers on the front baffle. Ask JBL, EAW, etc ...

Craigsub,

$425 per box delivered! That is cheap,as they will be well built and these guts know how to build them(day to day job).

Me I will build all my DIY boxes muself, have all the tooling and ...building is half the fun. Besides I almost chopped a finger two weeks ago.

Now you will be able to start rocking the house.

Ask yourself mortal , do you have as much displacement as me ? The answer is no unless you have a Windmere fan sub.

Good thing to have them both facing the same direction, looks more impressive like that!

Very impressive build quality, also. Make sure to get some quality electronics and simulate an LT, squeeze every bit of performance that you can .

If I was betting, I would say the 2 "smaller" boxes to the left are my SDX-15 duals boxes, and the larger is for the A7-900.

Stevenn ... check your PM please.
