Sicko,Wacko...good luck getting any news. The Wacko is canned.

Ask yourself mortal , do you have as much displacement as me ? The answer is no unless you have a Windmere fan sub.

Six SVS Ultra subs, not a bad start. Good to see a few AVS members are not bass starved.

If I see any pics of a working prototype I will grow wings and start flying. Then offer Kevin good money and buy it.

Well Keven may not have filled his goals, Or not, There is still room for talk.
Me and Dan have a lesser motor but is the 4 inch coil. With a 24.5 one way xmax.
Rated around 800 rms. And this 1 is done. No test info till all is said. And it is a triple gap.
More info to come. Here is a pic of finished proto.

I think Blueprint left us 20 years ago. Lol. Anyway, I will get some numbers up here in a day or so. I am in the middle of moving and not at my work pc for exact tsp from current tests. Driver details are polyglass/Kevlar composit cone. stitched. Butyl surround, Dual polly cotton spiders. with 12 n-38 neo slugs. And 1 hell of a massive top plate. Ha! Fs should be close at 29+/- in single 4 and d2 so far. weight 28 pounds on the 12. Pic of s4.

Fi Caraudio is reviving the blueprint name for the remaking of all of their subs. Most are using neo motors... is that what you've posted pics of?

What benefit(s) come from the triple-gap topology?

Each gap takes 1/(number of gaps) % of the flux.

The active coil couples with exactly 1 gap at all times + some fringe flux which should be relativity linear (hence the linear motor)

So when you have the taller 3 gap design vs 2, you can use the same size coil and get more xmax from it compared to two gaps, but you're going from a 1/2 coupling ratio to a 1/3 coupling ratio of the flux.

The analogy here is taking an underhung gap and making it taller You get more xmax, but you lose flux density (provided the magnet size does not change). Perhaps someone more versed in XBLL design can comment, but that's about the right idea I think.

Interesting. So it's basically a further degree of trading BL/efficiency for BL(x) linearity compared to a dual-gap then?

Does that mean a triple-gap motor should have two "wiggles" at some point along its BL(x) curve, like a dual-gap motor does at rest?

pitbull69,

Since we're currently driver challenged right now, how about an update on your drivers?

looks like its a neo motor so quite possibly no where with the cost of neo metal.

Agreed, but its been 90+ days since his last post; for someone bringing a new product to market, I'd expect some form of an update. If anything, to state the change in motor design or such.

With so many shops having new product in development, it will be interesting to see who can take advantage of the sudden rise in demand.
