After several weeks of lurking and research, I think I'm ready to make some decisions on an outdoor projector and related set-up. Looking for any comments on this possible configuration.
I have an elevated deck that overlooks my patio. The top of the deck is at least 12 feet above the patio. I intend to suspend a 150" diagonal screen from the top of the deck and I'm considering the Elite 150" 16x9 manual screen that is shown here. http://www.elitescreens.com/pdf/dimension_manual.pdf
. After researching DIY options, the portability, ease of storage and price led me to this option.
For the projector, I'm thinking about the Optoma 1691. Its a 720p projector that will throw a 150" picture at a distance of about 20 feet. I like the high lumens count for this projector and the fact that it has an hdmi input. The price is nice as well.
The projector will most often be located about 60-70 feet from my basement home theater. I intend to buy an equalized 75 foot HDMI cable from monoprice or one of the HDMI over cat-5 extenders to hook up my existing dvd player and directv receivers to the projector. Sound will be provided over my existing patio speakers (Klipsch AWS-650).
I can purchase all three of the products and stay under my self-imposed ceiling of $1000.
Comments? What, if anything, will I not be happy with? Thanks for any input.
