After building my man cave/Home Theater rooom, I was able to convince my wife that an outdoor theater would be a good addition to our home. I recently picked up an Epson 710HD (I convinced my company that they should buy it for me so I can test it as a replacement for our existing conference room setups) and an Elite DIY114H screen from Amazon. I am hoping some of the smarter minds on here might be able to provide me with some concrete ideas for a collapsible frame that can free-stand on our deck (all the frame designs I have found require staking to the ground). I am hoping to build this as inexpensive as possible to minimize the wife's objections. If anyone is able to help I will be eternally grateful.
Use PVC to make a frame and use patio umbrella bases to stand it up. Looks like the screen comes with grommets. I would drill a couple of holes in the PVC to attach bunges to keep the screen tight. If you need to, you can lash the uprights to the deck railling using those giant size bendy twist ties.
Thanks, I picked up some PVC pipe 2" and am going to build it later this month. I also picked up some sandbags to lay on the front and back legs when staking it down is not an option. Once I get everything setup, I will post some pictures of the opening event.
