Epson 8350 Rocked the house

Besides being geeky fun, I thought this might be of use to people doing a similar search to what I was doing -- will the Epson 8350 (a 2000 lumen projector) be bright enough for a medium sized outdoor show?

This past weekend, we hosted an outdoor movie party for which we built a screen 21.5 feet across and 10 feet high!!!

The big question was, would the epson 8350 be able to throw a picture onto a screen that size from a distance of 31 feet and be bright enough?

The answer is yes!!

Here are some pics of the event. What a fantastic feeling it was to be able to do this.

The projector was in "dynamic" and "Normal" mode... about 2000 lumens according to specs.

Also, for DIY'ers... we built the screen frame out of EMT pipe, and the screen was made from bleached muslin. I built the frame and the wife sewed and grommeted the muslin: Total material cost was about $145.00

For audio, we used a cheap Harbinger PA Amp and speakers (80 dollars from craigslist). Certainly not my 5.1 home theater sound, but for an outdoor screening is just fine. "A man's got to know is limitations"
