Just a quick WELCOME to the new Outdoor Theater Forum.

This area is to chat about the booming trend of outdoor movie setups. "Movies under the stars" are becoming a way for neighbors to get-together, are you one of them? What great fun!

We are! This is a great addition to AVS forum. We have an inflatable 178" diagonal screen whcih we can pretty much set up anywhere. We also use an Optoma DV10 MovieTime with its subwoofer. Also having long enough component and audio cables we can hook up DirecTV as well. We use outdoor speakers so it is always loud enough even though the MovieTime is pretty loud on its own. Needless to say it has brought us closer to our neighbors. We can sit out on the deck and watch a movie or sporting event (like UFC) and have a great time. Or we can set it up a little further in our yard and do our own Drive In movie theater. Either way is a blast!

Isn't the Optoma DV10 a great projector?!? My friends and family love it ! Movie theater quality picture and extremely portable, easy set up. I have a Gemmy inflatable screen which I use in my outdoor setup. Instant outdoor cinema in 15 minutes. I also use wireless speakers and a transmitter which I plug into my DV10. I tune the speakers frequency into the transmitter and BAM! I'm set! Great sound, NO WIRES!!! My system is expandable so I can buy additional wireless speakers to add to my system if I wish. I can set my speakers anywhere within a 300 ft. radius. Good quality sound, nothing extremely loud, and it takes about about 3 minutes to set up. Portability and quickness is what I like. I think I'm ready to take my show on the road. I'm Getting many requests. We'll see....

Interesting timing--I just started a thread about wireless speakers, and then read your post about it. What wireless speakers are you using? How is the sound?

I really enjoy my wireless speakers. I have Acoustic Research wireless stereo speakers AW871. They take about 8 c cell batteries ( or I can plug them up) and have built in handle so they are easy to carry. I just plug the transmitter into the DV10, set my speakers where I want them, turn them on and tune them in. BAM! I'm done total time, 2-3 minutes, if I take my time. I have the indoor speakers, but I take them outside also. They are not extremely loud, but louder than I thought they would be and loud enough for my needs. I can always buy another pair in the future and add to my system, to surround my guests in good quality sound. Personally, I think I'm more caught up in the quality of my sound than my guests are. They just love it.

Those are nice wireless speakers. I just use a front set of JBL ARENA speakers but I would not mind hooking up a couple of wireless to go with them...

Well, with winter weather starting to set in I had to pack away my outdoor set up. Spring and summer will be here before we know it. I packed everything neatly in very large plastic containers (2). These actually make it east to transport my set up... So to next year... :)

I would look for an Optoma movietime used. I actually saw them at CC for an unbelievable price recently...
