Hello! My first post in this forum...

I have a BG 808s in my parents house witch I have some problems with.

The red tube turns off intermittent and then turns on again and off, and on etc.

I think there is something wrong with the G2 voltage, how many volts should I measure it to? And witch pin in the CRT-tube end (at the connection at the board connected to it) is it?

If I have one voltage when the tube is working and one another when it is turned off then I guess I have found the problem.

Thanx!

Eric in Oskarshamn/Sweden

Problem could be partly shorted red tube or bad neck board, swap red and blue neck boards first to see if problem follows to blue.

If you find out that it's bad red tube, try tapping tubes neck and project few hour run in cycles from service menu. Sometimes that 5 seconds full white intervals "burns" debris away from gun assembly.

If that doesn't help, I should have red Sony tube for BG808s.

G2 voltage should be between 500-1000V DC at neck boards J2 cable connector, pin 6. But I guess it's fine.

I have already tried to switch the PCBs sitting in the rear end of the tubes between red and green and the problem did not move to the green tube.

There is no pin 6 on the J2 on my three rear end of the tube PCBs. Only 1 to 5 and there is only 1, 3 and 5 that is in use.

Thank you any way!

Fife pin neck board connector sounds more like plain BG808 (non s) or BD808s.

If so, then try to swap red RGB output amps to green to see if problem follows. RGB output amps are those aluminium boxes above neck boards.

BG808s have newer design neck boards, amp stages is on board.
