NEC XG-1351 Problem
I have an NEC XG-1351 that I purchased from an AVS forum member several years ago and then sold to my neighbor. It has developed a problem and I ask for some help or direction from the remaining CRT experts here.
The projector has about 6300 hours.
A few weeks ago, the green tube went out. Looking into the green lens, the tube face is illuminated and the brightness of the phosphor surface seems to be changing with the video image. But there does not seem to be a raster. The tube face is dimly illuminated over the entire phosphor area not the defined raster area of the other 2 tubes.
The illumination appears to increases and decreases if I change the brightness setting
There is no image when test patterns are viewed.
I have a second working 1351 with worn tubes that I could get parts from and was going to attempt to swap boards but the projector started to work again.
It worked for about 2 hours when it started to malfunction again. The symptoms were the green image started to become unstable.
I put up the grid pattern and could see that the horizontal lines of the green grid were moving (twitching?) up and down in the vertical axis but the vertical lines were not moving. This got progressively worse over the next 5 minutes and finally the green went completely out again returning to the dimly lighted phosphor with no raster.
I would appreciate any input anyone may wish to offer.
