I have a BG1209 and when focusing the RGB with the lens ajustment I can't seem to get the corners of the red & blue to focus to the point that you can see the little spaces in between the red & blue as I can see them with the green. The software focusing makes it a bit better but still not to the point that the grid turns into little color dashes.

So it seems that the red and blue don't focus as well as the green does.

Any thoughts?

The lenses are HD10gt I think? I say I think because there were stickers over all 3 barco stickers on the lenses but they were illegible and the sticker underneath say HD10gt on them.

The bg1209 is about 10' from the screen and the screen is 109"

I've been thru the entire setup and the outside of the red and blue will not focus the center of them does but the outsides are blurry. The on board focus is working as you can see the picture get better then worse but it never gets as sharp as the center.

Could these lenses be for the projector to be set back further from the screen?

Curt I saw your post from a while back,

"I've got a couple of sets of HD10GT lenses with no number suffix after the GT. They came off of Barcos. I'm guessing they came out after the HD10, but before they split the GT into the 17 and 26. I can throw these onto a set, but does anyone know if these are an all 'round high res lens or for smaller or larger screens?"

I'm thinking these are the same lenses I have, did you find any info on them?

Probably not lens issue if green works fine. Usually red is sharpest and then green and blue is softest.

Have you adjusted Sheimpflug (lens flapping) correctly?

Have you tested dynamic astig (spot shape for corners and edges) from service menu?

Have you done mechanical adjustments to tubes neck hardware?

Yes I've done the lens adjustment, lined up the cross hairs of the red and blue by physically moving the lenses from side to side. Centered the image on the crt face making sure not to go off the edge.

As for the Sheimpflug I don't think it's on a 1209?

I haven't done the mechanical adjustments to tubes neck hardware, would that correct the outside of the image not focusing?

BTW this 1209 is new to me and I have no history on it's previous installation, I put it up in place of a BD801s.

I thought it was 1209s, sorry.

Yes, there is no continous Sheimpflug in 1209 and no dynamic astig either.
Sheimpflug is done by glueing tubes hardware to small angle in factory. Only easy way to fine tuning it is using shims under lenses.

You can test if this is Sheimpflug issue by adjusting lens corner focus for one corner at time. If you get good corner focus, but not to all corners at same setting it's Sheimpflug issue.

It does seem that I can get one corner of the blue and red to focus using the lens focus, but not all four corners.

Could it be that it is not far enough from the screen? To short of throw distance.

If you can move the coarse lens focus and get each corner of the image to focus, but have the others go out of focus when others are in focus, then you have mechanical issues between the tube and the lens. That's the downside of the plain 1209, as it doesn't have Scheimpflug adjustments. What you need to do is use really thin brass washers to shim the gap between the tube and lens. Those came stock with the 1209. If you don't have any, Home Depot should have some that will work. I think the manual had a guide as to how many washers to use under each screw, but it's usually trial by fire.

After a whole day of adjusting it's up and running 1920 x 1080 @ 101p and looks good but could be better as the focus issue is still present.

I can't seem to find a non S manual for the Barco Graphics 1209, if anyone has this lens spacer/ washer setup procedure please let me know.

Thanks to everyone for all the help! biggrin.gif
