So I am sitting on two fully working G70s taking up space at my house that I am not sure what to do with. Are these beasts even worth anything now-a-days or just trash them? Any advice or information would be helpful, thanks.

if the tubes are decent it certainly has value. If you have a Moome HDMI card in them and you can plug in a blue ray player then even more so. Craigslist is a good place to start, but E-bay shows 2 completed listings for $400. each

on a side note, there's still regular posts here and at Curt's site from people in Europe and Australia struggling to repair or buy some crappy old ES focusing set from the early 90's and here we're talking about trashing G70's, wow!eek.gif

One problem is shipping. Sometimes after you add the shipping cost in it isn't worth buying. Then again some of us who like CRT's might be willing to pay the cost and a fair asking price. I would say past eBay auction history would be a good source.

Thanks for the replies fellas. I do have the Moome cards in them but they are his older dvi cards, not hdmi. Tubes on both are still in great shape with low hours but g70s can show wear early. The green on one had some flakes come off the phosphor so you can see those spots in your image. It came that way from sony when I ordered it years ago, but still low hours. The other machine had all new tubes in it when it was purchased so those should be mint but I haven't taken the lens off to look.

Does Curt still come around these parts anymore? He might have some input too I suppose.

well fortunately a DVI to HDMI adapter is like 4 bucks or you can even buy a cable with DVI one end HDMI other end . If It was me selling, and I used ot do this, I would just buy the cable and sell it as a plug and play ready machine.

Curt still comes around, I think 90% of his business now is 9" machines but the occasional person will still drop a few hundred dollars on a decent 8" set. I would take a G70 over any sub $3K digital personally. Last but not least, freight doesn't have ot be a huge expense, $250. depot to depot or less is possible but you should really use a crate and not just open pallet. Shop around

Good to know, I have some good XG parts (new and on the pj) but at $400 it sounds like it's better just to toss it...not worth the hassle.

Last night I was watching on a b stock sony hw 30 I bought from AVS and I'm convinced even a g 90 couldn't match the pq.

G70's must be worth something. On Curt's site they're $3100!

We used to hunt and fish to survive. Now we have to work 50 wks. a year so we can take a couple of weeks off to hunt and fish
