Got this email from one of my parts suppliers today...

180DMB22-B 180DMB22 ( B ) 180DMB22 ( B ) REBUILT CRT REQUIRES DUD TO BE REBUILT $179.00
180DMB22-G 180DMB22 ( G ) 180DMB22 ( G ) REBUILT CRT REQUIRES DUD TO BE REBUILT $179.00
180DMB22-R 180DMB22 ( R ) 180DMB22 ( R ) REBUILT CRT REQUIRES DUD TO BE REBUILT $179.00

That's over $300 less than VDC. I'm lookign for a green. I'm going to call today and find out time, etc and then take the plunge to see what they look like. As a dealer, I get a bit of a discount from the above.

Anyone ever used a rebuilt tube from them for anything else? Their email had probably 1000 different tubes that could be rebuilt.

Tim, Mike N, Mike P, Curt...anything I should be asking about the rebuilding process to ensure it is the right way? I know that VDC is using the original MEC blanks, but anything else?

Only bad thing is you have to send the tube to them for the rebuilding in advance, but that might be worth $300+ bucks! Plus, if the pj is out of commission, it might give me the urgung to finish the room instead of watching movies! :)

Thanks a million...Good luck...Let us know... Whichever is appropriate this time! jmwj03 at hotmail dot com

Jay, you didn't tell us who "them" are, or any other info. How about a website, or at least some contact info?

If you go into the parts lookup, then the consumer section, and type 180dmb22, sure enough, they come up.

Gee Larry, you want all the details. :D

Jay get one of those tubes FAST, before they realize how much they are undercutting the competition and rasise their prices ! Let us know if its any good. And Jay, I think I've got a TON of tubes here, if they are the real deal, I could send you one of my duds to send in so you won't have to finish that room !

I'm on the phone (on hold) with them now.

Apparently this is something new for them. I had a friend/partner/fellow servicer here in Bmt that told me a few months back that he had just bought a 180dmb22 from them a year ago. When I called, they had never heard of that number. Turns out he had bought a 180dnb22.

I have her on the line, adn she is checking into the different questons I asked. Cross your fingers.

Well, I talked to a VP at Tritronics, and he gave me the name of one of the VPs at the rebuild facility.

The rebuild facility is located here in Texas (on the border) and I have placed the order to send my tube in tomorrow for rebuild.

The rebuilder is the former Zenith CRT plant which was sold to the current owner in '99. They manufacture their own guns (which VDC is trying to buy from him...he said). They also manufacture tubes for other people. for instance, he said that they do manufacturing runs for Panasonic using the Panasonic guns. He does not have access to the original MEC guns used in our tubes, but he went through a lengthy explanation about the design of the tube, and what they did, etc. etc.

He explained to me all of the equipment that they use for rebuilding. One piece he told me about was a piece called a Micro Vision to test spot size. He said that they had compared to Sony, Hitachi, adn Panasonic. they had a much better spot size compared to Sony. Slightly better than Hitachi. And Panasonics tubes were slightly better at spot size.

He tiold me how they use an 18 step process to chemically remove all the old phosphor and get the gun down to bare original glass, and then the process to rebuild the tube with all new electron gun and cathode. He felt they were better than the VDCs (not sure if that is with VDC guns or the MEC guns) and that they would be nearly identical to a new tube. The price is right and they have a 1 year warranty.

I felt very comfortable having talked with him. The price is rediculous, as it does include return shipping to you! My green is ocoming out tonight to be sent in tomorrow. They guessed 7-10 day turnaround, including shipping, but that was before he knew I lived in TX as well, so I may have it in a week or less. I willd definately let you know how it goes.

And Curt, you could make a killing at the price for 10 of them :)

Jay

Ask him to come on this forum. I am sure we all would like to meet him and would be great for his business.

Although he would have to answer a lot of questions if he pops his head in.

Time to crank up that brightness :)

Does anyone have a cross-ref for the tubes used in various projectors?
I am aware that Barco has some spreadsheets on their website, but what about other brands, especially Ampro.

Thurman, where did you see the cross-reference information on Barco's website? I just called Tritronics about my Barco 808s blue gun, but was told they don't rebuild those tubes. However, I'm still not sure the blue tube part number I have (R7626576K) is correct, and this cross-reference sheet would be a great help.

Thanks!

Chris,

You can find the spreadsheets on the Barco CRT History page.

Too bad they aren't rebuilding the 180DVB22 for my BD808. At that price, I'd do all 3 tubes tomorrow! :D

Is one of those for 6PG tubes? Talk about extending the life of your pj!

I am sure they can rebuild the 180 dvb22 , Why don 't we ask them? Of VDC can, Why Titronic can not?
If not Can we mount a different tube on a BG808.

Whoa - if this works out, it'll change the whole face of reselling used PJ's!

Though I'm not up on my tube types so I can't tell if there are some real major gaps here as to what can and cannot be rebuilt. I can only assume that the ones that they're able to rebuild is somewhat similar to the ones that VDC is able to handle (as Bannani already stated).

Anyone want to call and inquire about the 180DVB22 tubes?

Rather than asking, I should just do it. :)

They *SHOULD* be able to do the 180DVB22 but I got a snotty reply from some woman there that said they do NOT rebuild it but maybe I'd like a 180DUB22 ? I wonder if they know there are THOUSANDS of us out here chomping at the bit for tubes ???

I tried to make that very clear this morning...both to Tritronics and the rebuilder. They know! Just remeber, some of those sales girls up there don't know much. I talked to Kathy, extension 1222, and she had just gotten the list of rebuildable tubes this morning. Matter a fact, she was missing the last page that had my 180dmb22 and I had to wait for her to find it.

So does that mean we should be able talk them into rebuilding a 180dvb22, just so long as we avoid Kathy at extension 1222? :D

So long as the rebuild quality is worth the cost, I'd jump on getting at least my blue and green tubes rebuilt.

I spoke to the re-builder, it seems they are going to try and rebuild a Barco CRT for a customer (I did not ask who), and I am sending on of the 8" LC tubes out of my Ultra to try... It goes out tomorrow. As soon as I hear back I will update the post :>)!!!!

No, definately talk to Kathy at that extension. She was very eager to help. She's the one who got me the VP to try and answert my questions. My comment was more general that they are order takers and don't know anything about the tubes. Kathy didn't know either, but at least she got me to someone and she wasn';t snotty.

I guess you want to deal with Kathy, this was the response I got from Amy, and this is the WHOLE response:

We do not rebuild crts here. We are a parts distributor.

Thank You!

Amy Raborg

The Ampro 3300 I have here in my basement uses the Barco version of the Marquee tubes, the 180DVB22 . It is the more common version of the tube, the 180DMB22 ONLY goes into Marquee projectors.

I'm guessing, but my guess would be the pinouts are different depending on the model number of the tube. I would *bet* they are the same tube, pretty much exactly, just with different pin out to the neck board.

Thanks Paul. I never could find a label on the tubes in my 3300.

I just spoke to the VP told him about the forum and he is going to try to get in and answer questions. He is a very nice people person type of guy and is willing to help us out in getting tubes for our machines at a great price.

The info i posted before was given incorrectly the do not keep stock of tubes thats how they try to keep the cost down and they go directly to the plant for rebuilt then shipped back dirrectly to you.

I still need help on the generic number for the 9500LC green tube if anyone has that info can you please post it.

oh, i spoke to missy at ext.1220

Thanks
Carlos
