Well the v880N does do a much better job on PAL than the original V880, and my 800 has BNC connectors and filters removed, and I haven't yet done that to the 880N, so even though it is using a crappier connection, it is much better - Its very hard to fault it, except on a couple of anime titles which I haven't seen anything do a good job of scaling.

DON'T feed the troll.

Just watched a bunch of the fabulous "Desperado" superbit, glorious pix, my HTPC never gave this much detail, except when adding all those filters and that gave awful ringing effects

I have also compared component to rgbhv some more, the component out of this player is very very good

Are there any details (i.e. step by step pics etc) of just a simple BNC and filter mod to the Momitsu?
I'd like to give my 880N BNC outputs instead of going through the DVI dongle and I know of no one this end of the pond who mods them!

Cheers

I just got my Momitsu 880N today.

I hooked it up to my Mitsubishi WS-65807 through the component
video cables. When I setup the momitsu to use 1080i all the
menus display fine. When I play a movie i can see the FBI
warnings, but when the actual movie starts or the DVD menu
appears I see some horizontal and vertical sync problems
and then my screen goes blank. I've tried changing the Video
Setting, Video Zoom and TV type settings from the Momitsu menu.
None of them seem to help except changing the Video Setting out
of Component NTSC 1080i/60Hz. I can see 480p just fine. 1080i
50Hz does not work at all.

The TV supports HD upto 1080i. I have an LG LST-3410 HD receiver
which works fine over 1080i.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I got v880-DX for Christmas and without this thread I would have thought the deluxe module didn't output analog. I hooked it up to a pc monitor and didn;t get a picture. Pushing the video button on the remote eventually got me to a resolution that I could view. According to the hkfe there are 14 differnet settings to be toggled through. The 9713 getsyou to the custom resolutions menu. Unfortunately for me I don't know what to change on that menu for my sony 12xx projector. If anyone knows please let me know . I tried a few different settings that didn;t work to well and left me toggling through the 14 settings until I could reset to 1080i which on my projector is a few inches off horizontaly on my 16x9 screen.

Other than that this player throws a great picture. With a well transferred dvd it looks as good as some of the compressed satalite HD channels. Actually it looks better than some of them.

I just received what is suppose to be a V880DX from HKflix today. What is strange is that the box and the player say it is a DVD-V880 model, not a V880DX. The owners manual says it is a V880DX.

How can I tell the difference?? Is the V880DX designated as such on the label or by some other means? Anyone have a a clue here or pictures of an actual V880DX to share

Thanks

Tim

If it includes the slim thin remote it is the deluxe version

Guys after completly modding my momitsu and testing everything out, and Petr getting my transcoder fixed color wise

I must say, the component out thru Petr's transcoder is clearly better than the direct RGBHV out from the DVI port

I know that is a expensive combo, but I needed the transcoder for my hdtv boxies and D-vhs deck so I decided to try the momitsu and it's all butter

Details are more present with the component out, it is just simply better, remember the component out on the deluxe version was greatly improved upon

Hi Gary,
Just got the Momitsu V880-DX today.Im running a 20ft DVI cable from the Momitsu to the HDMI/DVI>RGBHV converter than a 3ft RGBHV cable to my Barco 808 projector. All I can say is WOW ! Sharper than SDI thru my Rock Pro scaler and better color saturation.Im running DVI out at 720p@60Hz thru the HD-DVI Output . How do you get into the custom timing and refresh menu?

GO to the setup screen, then video section , and highlight the already selected resolution (middle menu) and press 9-7-1-3 on the remote.

Just got my 880DX as well today :). One day ahead of schedule. I have to say that HKFlix is a good company to go with if you plan on buying one. At first I wanted to go with Atacom because they actually had a phone number I could call and talk to a real person. When I did though, the shipping was 3 times as much as HKFlix. Decided to go with HKFlix, ordered, payed through PayPal and got a confirmation right away. The next day I got a Fedex tracking number. Today when I got up and checked on the tracking it said it was sitting in a truck for delivery! It arrived around 1:00.

Took a little bit of work, but got it setup for 960p using edsuski's custom settings for my 1292Q.

The hardest part was getting used to the remote! And I thought I lost my old remote a lot in the cushions. This remote is thin and I'm sure will always be found in the depths of my couch.

Anyways, so far so good! I will be watching my first movie in over a month in the theatre room. The convergence is still pretty rough, but we are in big screen withdrawal!

To get away from the main topic a bit, my 1292Q on a 110" wide white painted screen will be plenty bright until I get my high gain material. It compares pretty favourably with my 'ol X1 in brightness. Don't get me wrong, I don't need sunglasses or anything like that but it will definitely do for now. I have the whole room blacked out, but the carpets are still too light. Amazing how much that affects the black levels...

BTW, tried a whole bunch of DVDs and all worked just fine...

Would you be kind enough to post eduski's settings for 960P in 'Momitsu format', as my custom resolutions for 960P haven't worked : (
Much obliged.

Thaks for that!:)
Isn't eduski running 960P at 48Hz? Could I use the same timings, except with 48Hz refresh rate?

Cheers

Hi,
Using the above example if you wanted 1440x960p@48Hz would you just substitute vert freq to 4800 and prehsync to 48 ?

Just change Vertical Freq to 4800 and I've found it works a treat. Thanks. :)
