The Worlds Greatest Transcoder is still coming... I was hoping to announce it's debut this week. But it now seems like it may be next week sometime.

The little operation that was originally going to stuff the PC boards wanted me to switch to another PC board software (something about solder mask, or something similar to that). That was not easy for me to do, so we played around the idea, then I went with another local operation that's working very well with things the way that they are :D

The manual is also in the making.

The MP-5 is for the absolute best High Definition possible. For color reproduction, dynamic range, shadow detail and deep black performance and cleanest image, nothing else compares or outperforms the MP-5

It's all about the performance... Got Marquee!

Mike,

In your opinion, what equipment would compliment the MP-5 for best viewing? So far, I've heard the MP-5 with the NN DVD Player is wonderful.

I have a Marquee 8111+, a NeuNeo DVD Player, a Scientific Atlanta 8300HD DVR , an XBOX (HD), a Gamecube, a PS2, a computer (VGA Breakout).

I'm slowly piecing my HT together with the assistance of CJ, and the MP-5 will be the start of my move to 1080i/1080p.

It's hard to say, but my thoughts are with the Neo and DVR unit (primarily). I have no experience with the XBOX, Playstation and GameCube. However, the MP-5 should do well with any component source, and it does well even with 720P.

The HTPC should be used on a separate input card in the Marquee, though with the NEO through the MP-5, the HTPC may not be needed. I would first compare the HTPC's performance to the NEO/MP-5. If the NEO does well, or better than the HTPC in picture quality, I would eliminate the HTPC for ease of use with the NEO and performance.

It seems you have about five component inputs. Therefore you'll probably need an additional component switcher. But with the MP-5, as demoed at the last gathering, it'll need very good component cables and I'm sure the same would apply to a switcher. If you go with a component switcher, i would recommend one with a bandwidth of at least 500mhz.

It's all about the performance... Got Marquee!

14 Hours? 14 Hours to respond? I'm quite disappointed in you. If you can't respond with these warnings in a more timely manner, we are just going to have to hand your duties to someone else.

You're late. I've been doing this for the past 5 years, and there's absolutely nothing you can do about it...:D

Anyway, I've found a great website for you, where I'm sure you'll be welcomed. I'm not sure if it has a forum, but I'm sure you'll have a lot in common with the people who visits that site. Enjoy:

Hey Mike, while you're at it why don't you design a RASTER blanking device and we'll all buy one, but only if advertise it on this forum.

I've ordered 5000 and will be conducting my own power buy using the free advertising available on this CRT forum. The power of reaching the 100 or so who read this forum and the 20 or so who are willing to spend any money unless they are feeling like they are stealing from somebody. The thing is way over priced so my power buy will be $199.95 each. There will be free trials, a money back guarantee, and FREE shipping. The power of mass purchases and free advertising on AVS. Don't worry we will be donating 22 cents of every purchase to the charity of Alan's choice. And for the first 3000 purchasers who also sign up for the new CRT master card, we will throw in an MP modified 9500LC. Freight charge on that one will be $29.95. But we will also throw in a free air for your tires coupon redeemable at any Exxon gas station AND an autographed picture of Raster.

Mike,

Congratulations on the progress, looks like things are real close. I can tell you after seeing the early version, I'm sure the improved product is well worth the wait. Honestly I've missed the MP-5 being in my system and there are very few, if any, products that I can say that about.

Thank you mark for reporting me, asking for me to be banned for life, and calling me a moron, it is much appreciated.

Mike ... Looking forward to the production debut, are there any mods needed for the NeuNeo in combination with the MP-5? I remember you mentioned in your march gathering about making some tweaks, but was not sure if it was just the MP-5 or the NN as well.

Hey Guys. Just in case anybody can't read between the lines of my post, it was a spoof. I have posted many times about how great I think the MP-5 is not to mention how great MP himself is as well as I my feelings that MP has under priced the MP-5. by at least $300 if not more. It should cost at least $1000 and is a steal at the price MP is offering it at.

Now the CRT forum is I think one of the most senior forums on AVS and until recently has not needed intervention by any moderators. The CRT forum has indeed been changing and in my not so humble opinion not favorably. Many of the most knowledgeable posters now post here very infrequently and have moved on to another CRT forum. Then there is not an awful lot of new CRT stuff happening. Many of us remaining here are friends and this forum now contains a lot of banter between friends. I really don't object to this.

The CRT forum has always tolerated what some would consider free advertising. People are searching for things and sometimes people post that the have what they need. We learn about bunch of things, some new products, and indeed some of what is posted here and in other forums by a manufacturer might be fairly characterized as advertising. Claims about a product for example. But of course anytime a manufacturer posts this could happen and we all want to have manufacturer input etc.

The CRT forum is small and many people here are REALLY REALLY cheap. Sorry but that is the truth. My spoof on how posting something that might be construed as advertising could have a great return here. Hardly. Reread my post.

I think Raster is way off base with his advertising warning. Whatever.

But what made me really mad which I expressed in another post which I self reported to our moderator was a link on several members posts that if you clicked it automatically added Raster to your ignore list. My problem with this is that nowhere did any linker every state what would happen if you clicked. I clicked to see the funny and received the equivalent of a minor virus, that changed one of my AVS settings, my ignore list.. One that I had to go into my AVS forum settings to undo. This is wrong for somebody to do just like those morons out there who send viruses to your computer. If I sent you something which changed your AVS settings automatically, you probably would be mad. It is a childish, irresponsible, and moronic thing to do. What is it OK because it adds Raster to one's ignore list? Its not OK even if the majority here thinks it's just great.

Mark,

I thought it was a spoof (raster pic and all), but the line that threw me was:

Quote:
The thing is way over priced so my power buy will be $199.95 each.
I also have to wonder about this one:

Quote:

I'm not trying to bag on you, but I don't see the virus connection. The button stated what it would do if you clicked it. You are mad because you clicked a button that did EXACTLY what it was advertised to do. No more, no less. A virus is something that sereptitiously performs an unadvertised and typically malicious function.

That's kind of like going to Starbucks and ordering a coffee and getting mad at the manager because you got coffee.

I posted the button. It borrowed it from another AVS poster. First let me apology if it caused you grief. However, there was no virus. It performed a AVS bulletin board function and was labeled as such. Maybe not as clearly as it should be. Any way, I will not be posting it any more. Again my apologies to you.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled program.

Mark, you're right, that was a "Raster" like thing Aubrey did. HA!!!
And if anyone deserved it, guess who?

Mark is just a foolin' us. He's acting like he's politically liberal. This from a guy who has worked as an attorney in the White House and given counsel to plenty of conservatives.

Mark's complaining about us ignoring Raster is just another joke. Mark is SO BORED waiting for his MP-1 that he's got nothing to do but rag on someone!!!@@@

And now we wait for Raster to post again. And again! And again! Raster
is a poster boy for all those in our country in need of better mental health care. HA!

Steve. As you know lawyers can wear white hats and black hats. I have over my career worked for both liberals and conservatives. I have written speeches and testimony for both. However, I am really a bleeding heart liberal.

OK guys. All is forgiven, at least by me. Let's move on.'

Time to rip apart my FP CRTagain. Pull the neck boards, VIM, LVPS, HVPS, nd control board once again. Can't do that with a bulb projector.
