BTW USA is the country with very high murder per capita number.
What is the reason for this?
I saw an interesting film Bowling for Columbine, which claims that the reason is the atmosphere of fear made by media and politics. Feared people consume better and can be better controlled.

Do you think this is true?

Not to be a raster, but *DON'T* anybody go there. That topic would be a lightning rod, and as much fun as it would be while it lasted, the thread would soon be closed and a few would certainly have ruffled feathers. Stepan, feel free to PM me and I'll give you my take.

Ecrabb, I do not know where is a problem. This is interesting and serious topic and I think few people has some views on it. Surely the discussion could not be the kind of "common harmony" as can be seen in another crt-technology threads. This is OT and might be deleted in the end but before that it can be interresting discussion. I hope you guys are not just tech-nuts who do not have views on social issues or cowards who need to have all their feathers neat and clean and do not want run into trouble.

In a free country you're free to buy a gun and shoot someone that bugs you......and to tell you the truth, we like it that way. We also have the highest number of executions.:D

True Democracy does not breed feared people. Democracy was bred from brave heros, who stood up against control and won...that bought about hundreds of years of freedom, but freedom does have it's negatives - hey we aint perfect :D just enjoying the many years of being free, and by not knowing what control is, we tend to take things for granted from time to time. But it's all good ;)

"True democracy"... is this the real situation in US?
For example, Bush-the-monkeys connections with some companies...
Does this belong to true democracy?

BTW WHY the hell did you americans elect the monkey as your president? I simply do not understand it. Hey, he is JUST A COWBOY, he was never meant to be a president!

We wanted a giraffe, but it would have been a problem getting him into White House, plus we would have to redesign Airforce One and the presidential limousine.

I like that! :D

Stapan, The US is flawed just like every other country. We a have distorted, biased view of ourselves, just like every other country. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else, but I'd probably feel that way about many other countries--if I had been born there.

You my friend are lucky you don't live in the US. With your odd behavior, you wouldn't last long. :D

I'm from Texas too, but I wouldn't categorize myself or the POTUS as a "cowboy". I understand that the definition of a cowboy is pretty broad in other parts of the world, but trust me, being from Texas and having a southern accent does not make you a cowboy.

This is so true! Texas cities are pretty much like cities in the rest of the US. I was born in Dallas and I've never liked country music or owned a cowboy hat. I did own one pair of cowboy boots but only wore them a hand full of times. I'd say only 1 out of every 200 Dallas residents dresses like a $hit kicker, and most of those are dime store cowboys, not the real deal. Outside the city, it gets a little more cowboy, but not as much as everyone seems to think.

GWB has a much heavier accent than the average Texas city slicker. He sounds like a hick even to me. :D

Stop trolling, Stepan....
Anyone who brings up Bowling for columbine as a film of merit, as opposed to the solid pack of lies that it's been been PROVEN to be, and insults our President, is nothing more than a troll. Bush may not be perfect, but he's got cahoneys (sp?) that are way bigger than anything the leader of the Czech republic will ever have. :D

Go back to talking about PJ's. ;)

Thanks, Mike. As usual, you took the words right out of my mouth. Oh, and they're "cojones" for the record.

I voted for the guy because I thought (and still do) think he was better than the alternative. You have your opinion (which, frankly Stepan really doesn't matter since you're not a citizen of the US), and I have mine. Deal.
