I'm currently running my 1031 on a samsung ts-360, and a pc sometimes. I have the samsung set for 4:3 and 480i/p and it works fine directly out of the vga to the projector, it letter boxes the HD stuff and does full screen for ps2 and such. If I switch it to 1080i no picture shows up, so I ran it thru a sync convertor and it shows up. When i go to 16:9 and 1080i for the settings on the box, the picture is bigger than the projector puts out, like watching a 4:3 section of a 16:9 picture. I did notice the picture is much brighter than the output of the 480i/p setting. Do I need a scaler or do I need to squeez the picture using the settings on the projector? I have a HD tuner card in the pc, if I set powerstrip to 1080i what will I need to do to get the correct 16:9 image? What I'm trying to do is get 1080i in a 16:9 format with the componants I already have. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks. I haven't seen to much on this subject and the badboyz site doesn't really go in to much with the set-up i have. Also, the Extron sync convertor I have had a vga input but a RGBV out put, so i need to run a few cables to convert it to the big sony connector, is there a sync convertor out the with std vga input and outputs?

The 1031 is in fact the ONLY one of the 10xx series that will do 1080i.

Later 1030´s are capable too. I have tested 1920*1080i@50Hz with Powerstrip and it works. Of course Windows desktop is fuzzy and lower progressive resolutions look much better.

Because the 1031 has no electronic memories its a real pain to set up differant resolutions.

You would need to do a full set up every time for 16:9 1080i and 4:3 480 i/p

The 1031 does a very good job at displaying HD at 1080i. I was very supprised when I had my 1st 1031Q over 4 years ago. It was my first projector of any kind and it worked well of an old analog set.

I later went to a barco that also would only sync to 1080i and it ran circles around the sony.

yes, but it doesn't address my question. I assume the adjustments will adjust the visible image on the screen, but my image is wider than what is being displayed.

Maybe you must check blanking adjustments. So trye this: adjust hor- size smaller and "open" blankings and i´m sure that you found that missing part of picture. Those blanking adjusts shoud bee adjust again if you change resolution.
AND REMEMBER TO CHECK THAT PICTURE IS STILL INSIDE OF PHOSPOR..
And thats true that as 1031 is analog then there is only one "usable" resolution at time. You basicly must adjust it all over again if you change resolution

Thanks. I did it with the controls under the board, just wanted to be sure before I took it apart. Much better in 16:9 than the 4:3 with letterbox.
