As I have stated in the past I have always thought the biggest problem with any of the known mods is turnaround time. 1 month would be bearable but it's typically 2 or 3 AFAIK.

I may be wrong, but I was under the impression they often take a LOT longer than 2 or 3 months.

You're right, that's nothing. I've went much longer...

I think I must be related to Moome, we both have a hard time getting things out on time, and we both have a hard time sticking to the promised date. And we also both seem to be on your radar.

But check this, we both seem to keep folk wanting what we have. I hope that's not causing you to continue to loose much sleep..

I knew you took longer Mikey. I was just trying to make that point without directly busting your balls. I admire your honesty!

PS: I'm sleeping like a baby! (By that I don't mean sleeping well. I mean curling up in the fetal position and sucking my thumb. )

You're a piece of work Phil..

I've been married 20 years. It took me 19 years to get along with some of my In-laws. Not sure why we had such difficulty. I only recall putting a ring on one finger... and that was enough opinions for me..

Believe it or not, my ex-wife's entire family really liked me. Even after we were divorced, I visited them for many years.

I never understood the "I have to do whatever it takes to make my in-laws like me" attitude. The in-laws have just as much responsibility to try to get along with you too. If they're not trying, the heck with 'em! I guess I was lucky to have in-laws I got along with without trying.

Have you been married Curt? I didn't dawn on me. Maybe you haven't.

No wonder Curt likes porn so much! We'll have to start calling him by his royal name: Master Bater.

well I already have a full set of your boards in my 8500, so I sleep just fine. AFA Moome, I only bought his HDMI card once others had already received theirs so I got mine in 2 weeks. I am grateful to all the folks who pre-paid, waited 6 months and ultimately helped fund the project but I am too high strung to have my money out floating around in Cyberspace for that long.
The trouble with waiting 6 months for MP mods for the average person is it usually means they're PJ is down for the entire length of time. Lets face it, that sucks. the other option is for them to gamble on buying spare VIM and 3 VNB's off E-bay but then that will easilly add +$400. to the cost of hot-rodding their machine. I don't mean to bust anyone's balls, without Moome and MP this hobby might already be dead, but lets face it. The choices for the avergae person running a typical 8500 are
1) spend the $1400. + dollars and wait 3,4, even 5 months? for the mods to let their machine do 1080P or
2) just say to hell with it, sell their 8500 for $1500. and get a sony Pearl which is already 1080P razor sharp for less than $3k.
It's basically the same amount of money, and the second choice is a lot less furstration. I would just like to see option 1 become an easier choice to make, that's all. I hope you can figure out to make it happen mike.

.

Marks right, swapping boards is Foobar. Heck, you guys are all on the East coast and Hi Rez has a huge facility. Why not just get together there with MP and each offer up their fully tweaked 8500 on 2 screens in the same room. Maybe Gary will be so impressed he will buy Mike's intellectually property rights to the MP super's? I know that If I and the other local CRT's were nearby we would certainly not miss such an event. Heck, with **** weather on the horizon this is a perfect Winter acitivity.

This was not always the case, so to paint it as such is just wrong.

And the issues and problems has already been resolved with the Marquee mods, and that's why the sales have been on hold.

And a quick FIY, most of the wait had to do with solving problems that later came up. And most of the people who were waiting have been very patient and understanding. And some chose to wait, because they wanted the next better version. And I'm sure that's the same with Moome.

You guys act like we have factories and employees to make this stuff happen faster.

So do try and understand what goes on before you make these blatant negative post. Because in the past two to three years since being back in the house, I've only had one person complain about not getting their mods. Everyone else waited, and they did not seem to have that much of a problem with it. Now If they told you something different, that would be news to me.

And each one of those who had waited, had received something better than they had expected, and they're still entitled beyond that.

True, this was not always the case. In the past you couldn't get a 1080p digital PJ for under $3k.

I think draganm makes a good point. With other options getting so much better and cheaper, at some point it's not worth the hassle and expense involved in modding a Marquee. Making it less of a hassle may help keep the mods a viable option.

I read a little bit of this and it looks like it is going to end up the same.

If you do it, then some objective tests need to be thrown in like MTF measurements and dot size. Also, the price and availability factor need to be considered. Dave use to give me a hard time about VDC's prices. I would like to see a price comparison between new VDC boards and the modded boards.

careful Phil, simply pointing out the reality of the current HT PJ market can make you appear "negative" around here I guess? It's not like I enjoy nagging people to get their products on the market. I just think that having those products readilly available (as opposed to vaporware) makes CRT a stronger hobby with a longer life expectancy. Call me crazy

Okay you guy's shoot it out, and i don't want to interrupt, however i have a question for HiRez...some one posted a reply to my problem of having a a broken down Seleco SDG 900 plus projector and i can't find parts anywhere. They claimed that they saw one at HiRez some years ago and it may still be there ??? Is that a possibility?
Thanks

atomichifiandtv.com is what HiRez turned into. You might want to contact them. I think Steve is who you want to talk too. If this does not pan out you might want to take Curt's advice as it might not be worth repairing as that projector is very rare.
