I have a new 2011 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE with the standard stereo (not the Premium Bose). It has OnStar and steering wheel controls.
Last year I installed a Kenwood DNX6160 into a Jetta which I traded in for this truck. I now want to install the Kenwood into the Sierra. I love this stereo's features, including DVD, bluetooth, navigation, and Ipod interface.
My goal is to retain the OnStar features, even though I do not plan on subscribing once the free trial period expires, and plug the existing XM antenna into the Kenwood.
I have been looking at the Scosche website and I can't determine which pieces and parts I need. They list "GM21SR - 2006 - up GM LAN Stereo Replacement Interface with Onstar" and "S-31 - Stereo Replacement Interface with Steering Wheel Control". Do I also need the AM/FM antenna adapter?
What are the things I need to concern myself with when considering Onstar interfaces?
