I take the RMS as a continuous readin. Figure on 600 watts. You will be fine.
Two things destroy subs.
Thermal power-feeding continuous amounts of current. Usually music will never destroy a speaker unless you are just pouring the power to it. As an example I run 8" midbass drivers with an 80 watt power rating. I feed them 225wpc and they have been happy for 4 years. Remember that I need a front end to keep up with 145+db's of bass.
Mechanical limits- this is all about how much Xmax your sub has and not hitting Xmech. in all honesty, the enclosure will most determine what is going to happen and how much power you can apply.
Small sealed boxes can take a ton of power. Large sealed reduces power capacity
ported enclosure designed correctly increase the power capacity up to it's thermal limits, but elow tuning the woofer unloads and you can get damage.
