I bought an MTX Audio Custom box, Made of some type of hard plastic?
Well Its for a dodge ram 2500 2005.
And the mold gets in the way of the circle that screws in to the box, its a kicker cvr 10" sub. is there a different sub that will fit? the circle on the sub needs to be 10 and 1/4" or less to fit right. any sub that will work? needs to be dual voice coil, and sound decent with the box. any sugestions?
Well if you google a pic of that box that fits a dodge ram 2005 it has a mold in the way of the ring you screw the rim onto the box. My kicker cvr hits the rim. I need a 4 ohm dual voice coil. Need sMomething that will fit
To clarify, when trying to install the speaker in the enclosure, the depth of the speaker (the magnet) can interfere with what mounts the box to the floor internally? Thus not allowing you to munt the sub...
So you need a shallow mount sub. And you are positive it is a 10 inch enclosure?
Hopefully that is clear as mud.
Can you take a tape measure and give me a dimension of the depth that is allowable?
No, It is not the depth, if the sub were in there, I would have maybe 3 inches of play room. It is the width of the RIM of the sub. on the woofer, i need a sub that no part of the sub sticks out more then 10 and 1/4"
I have found a couple but they are not a DVC 4 ohm config. I think the Polk MM 10" might fit. Awesome performer in that space. Cut out is 9 1/8" never saw a basket have more than a 1/2" flange. You might try calling them to get a outside basket diameter.
Your the man!
Now I know how to install them and all that, but the tech talk is over my head, What should i get, i have a 500 watt alpine amp, so?
Well if you have an Alpine mono sub amp that does 500@2 ohms, you should be golden. It should give you an appreciable bump in the low end.
Remember that we are entirely governed by the laws of physics.
You have a single 10" sub in a small sealed enclosure.
It will get loud but not trophy winning loud. That would require some cabin modification and/or loss of seating space.
Plus those Polk subs are nice. The MM line handles good power, they look awesome and sound good. The JBL GT5 line might work. Sadly I had issues getting the sub dimensions because the price is right for a solid performer.
