I picked up a 2013 Boss 302 over the weekend. Being that it's a track focused car they put the base stereo in it. Now this year it does come with Sync so I want to keep the head unit and swap the speakers which are a muddy mess. It seems this is a popular one with the Mustang crew.

Any other suggestions for a 6x8 or 5x7 setup? I want to keep things clean without having to mod the car other than swap speakers for now. Thanks!

Should work fine. Just don't expect to get a ton of low end out of them. So keep the bass boost at zero. That is what usually muddies the sound up.

I don't expect to rock the house but the speakers that come with the car look like Radio Shack specials from 1979. I was just worried about the efficiency rating on this speaker given that it will be only powered by the stock head unit.
