I'm looking for a head unit with nothing but a digital AM/FM tuner with presets and a 3.5 mm aux input. What unit should I get?

DirecTV, Choice Xtra, every movie channel, HD Extra, VOD

Good luck with that. I think they are so rare, if exist at all, because they wouldn't know what to charge you. They always try to get you to buy stuff u don't need in order to justify the price. ^)

Solution: FREE. Explanation: I will have to charge$ you.

Yeah true. Why do they even still make CD players? I haven't listened to a CD in 10 years, ever since I bought an iPod, which I am perfectly capable of controlling the old fashioned way while driving. I don't need all the expensive bells and whistles.

Because while the number of flash/Hdd based media has grown exponetially, the people who do use CD are still out there. They definitely outnumber the people who ask for a headunit like the one you want. Most want bluetooth. While I am sure there is a market for a super minimalist head unit, I am sure the selling point would be so close to a head with the bells and whistles that people would just buy that.

Get a Radio/CD, don't use the CD, put a piece of tape on it.

Solution: FREE. Explanation: I will have to charge$ you.

You asked for a unit without CD. What do you want, a miracle. Sorry Charlie, you are not going to find anything without a CD or Tape, unless you go with a retro unit, or go without.

I have a Kenwood in my Trailblazer, and never use the CD part of it, and never had problems doing so. So, I really do not see why you are complaining about having a unit with a CD player in it. It really is not going to change the price any whether the head unit has one or not.

Now of course, if you want cheap, go to your local Wally World and pick up one of their junk non name brand units. Majority that have after market radios in their vehicles, either listen to Sirius/XM, iPod, music streaming, or HD-Radio.

Actually, many completely stock factory radios contain just the features you want, and are your most inexpensive option. Provided that you have not cut up your dash for a non-stock radio, just go to a car stereo installer place, and peruse the "take-out" stereos for one that fits your car. It will probably cost $10 to $25.

There is no quality compromise with most factory radios anymore - my Chrysler HU in my Jeep is 33wrms per channel, very low distortion, and has an auxuilliary input on back of the chassis with a special jack. I had to buy the same $40 adapter that would have been used to install a CD changer, and use the dual RCA jacks on that, which I ran to a stereo mini phone jack on my dash. I use it with my Android tablet for MP3 playback of music and streaming NetFlix movies (only when parked in a wifi hotspot, of course)..

Holy moly folks.

This is not difficult. I saw this was still active and did a quick crutchfield search

http://www.crutchfield.com/p_105KDX50BT/JVC-KD-X50BT.html?tp=5684

they 19 other models.

100 bucks. No CD
front 3.5mm jack
will charge your player
bluetooth.

Any cheaper and you are asking for issues in my book.
YMMV
