Hi,

I have a pair of 8" Kicker Solobaric L7s(Dual 4ohm voice coils) [L7 manual] and a Kicker ZX750.1 amp [ZX750.1 manual] that I had installed in a previous vehicle. I haven't had any use for them in the past 6 years or so because I started a family and didn't have room for them in any of my vehicles. I just recently purchased a 98 Jeep Wrangler and I was thinking about putting one of the Kicker subs in there with the amp to add some bass(which is non existant in this Jeep). I am leaning towards installing just one sub with the amp because space is very limited and I would still like a little bit of storage. Is it possible to do this with my setup or will I need to use both speakers? I do not fully understand sub/amp wiring and impedances. What would be the best way to wire the amp and subs?

Thanks,
Matt

Should be no problem. a single 4 ohm per coil DVC sub can be wired coils in series for an 8 ohm DCR or coils parallel for a 2 ohm DCR.

Wire the single sub parallel (plus/positive speaker lead to positive/plus at amplifier negative/minus speaker leads to negative/minus amplifier)

If that doesn't help I can post a picture when I get home.

Make sure enclosure is for a single speaker.

Thank you. So as far as the second voice coil on the speaker do I just run connect the 2 positives together and the 2 negatives together? The second voice coil is the part that confuses me. So + from amp to + primary voice coil and then to + secondary voice coil and - from amp to - primary voice coil and then to - secondary voice coil. Does that sound correct? I hope that makes sense. rolleyes.gif

Totally correct! Sorry I may have over complicated it before.
