help with boat install

im a newbie. replaced a stereo in a boat i purchased, so as i could use my droid for blue tooth audio.

wanted to use the sub pre outs off the kenwood unit for a self amplified speaker for inside the hull for some added boom. I have hooked up two different self amplified subs and i cannot get them to turn on.

very basic.....ground to battery....battery power to battery (fused) and remote turn on lead to head unit....(kdx699) radio works fine have sound...but no preout bass too sub...nor does the red light go on..... have the correct selection for the lfp on the ken wood, in which there is a on/off selection for the pre outs....
. Double checked the blue and white wire for amp turn on off the pdf file on line. Im miffed here.....at first i had a older kenwood self amped speaker hooked up and got nothing....thought maybe it was lunch.....now im working on a new infinity self ampd deal....and still nothing. Anything special on boats im missing here?

Try applying 12 volts directly from the battery to the remote turn on on the amp/sub and see what you get. It SHOULD turn on. If it does then the head unit's remote turn-on is at fault.
