"Basic plus" car stereo (CD) recommendations
The six-CD player in my 2005 Corolla works fine when the temperature is below about 70, but when I have to leave the car in the sun, it often plays for a few minutes after I resume driving and then reports ERROR 1 and stops, usually for many minutes. It often fails in the middle of a track, and seeking manually to any track on the CD usually fails, except for track 1, which nearly always works. It's the original six-CD changer, with AM/FM. It happens with many CDs in excellent condition, so I assume the CD player is the problem.
Ideally, I'd like to buy something that can hold and change multiple CDs (not just one), has AM/FM, and a nice bonus would be if it allows me to play the output from my iPhone through the car's speakers. I don't want to do any of the installation myself. I don't need anything fancier than that, just basic, reliable CD output, mainly. I expect to keep this car for at least a few more years.
If anyone would like to explain what is causing the problem, I'd appreciate it. However, here's what I would really like to find out:
If I buy a new car stereo, will the problem go away?
Can anyone recommend something?
