So if you just want loud - the kicker beats the 12W7, but if you want it to sound good the JL woofer wins at loud and sounding good.

When using a W7, you're kinda limited to JL amplifiers (to get the most out of the amp) due to the impedance of the dual 1.5 ohm coils...

3 ohm driver on a "regular" monoblock (2 ohm stable), the amp will run "less hot"; but, you will not get all the power of the amp.

I had 1 13w7 installed in my Lincoln LS. I'm not sure if you realize how big of an enclosure that two will require, let alone the power. I had an Autotek amp pushing 1200w to it. JL highly recommends using a ported box. The box for one sub took up almost all of my trunk space, and the LS has a pretty big trunk.

All I know, is I was amazed and shocked at how loud the thing was. Even the installer from Ultimate Audio was shocked. He told me that it was the loudest car he's ever done with 1 sub. Of course, this was when the 13w7 was relatively new. One 13w7 will hit 140-150 db with the right power. My previous set up was two 10w6's, and they were pretty loud, or so I thought.

In addition, if you decide to try two... Make sure you have an alternator and electrical system that can handle the strain. My LS didn't with one. Of course, I was running two other amps that were pushing 111x2 to my door speakers (Diamond Audio 6.5 seps).

In my opinion, you'll more than impress your friends with one of 'em.

Nothing comes close to that 13w7 for sound quality or loudness, IMO.

But you obviously have not heard a Stereo Integrity Mag series woofer right?

The last SPL competition I went to, the Mag wooped butt over the 13W7's and it is also one of the best sounding woofers out there.

Check them out. And you don't have the mechanical sounds to deal with like the W7's have either.

Earth: The Insane Asylum of the Universe, nowhere else could things be this screwed up.

Just a quick note: If you're going to be running some serious wattage, don't waste time with capacitors. Get a beefy alternator and good deep cycle batteries like optima yellow tops.

Heh, how big is your vehicle? A pair of these would blow the doors off most anything.

Buck a watt. =) (plus s/h)

8110 Watts RMS x 1 channel at 4 ohms,
14.4V supply and ≤ 1%THD+N

They demoed it at a show once, ran a 60hz tone though it and used it as a welder! Now that's power.

There's no point trying to compare JL W7's to anything else. They're in a league of their own. By the time the competition figures out a way to get around all the patents, JL will have moved on over the horizen.

<newbs>

They are not THAT untouchable; there are products that beat W7's in some ways or another (SQ, SPL, Price, etc)...

What makes the 13W7 so unique is that it can play at moderate SPL levels and it still sounds great. The ultimate SQL sub.

There are however a ton of subs that can play much much louder than the 13W7. Infact you'll never find a 13w7 in any DBDrag event. They just don't get that loud.

Neither, look at other nonmainstream brands. But to answer your question, I'ld go with the JLs
