Asking here as homework for my dad :)

Long story short: My dad's car had the ever-lovely bose audio setup built in and it's time for it to burn (he knew that bose wasn't good, but just realized how bad they are after talking to a surprizeingly knowledgeable best buy car audio installer :p )..he's already gotten a new stereo (a sony one...i forget the model at the moment) and he's also looking for a new pair of speakers for the fronts. He mostly listens to classical/Classical guitar and the like..and since whenever i search for info for this kinda stuff on google i always end up with bizrate and pricegrabber sites witch don't help :p

So far he's come up with 4 speakers for me to search on that he hasn't been able to listen to in the 5"x7" or 6"x8" range

JBL P8652

MB Quart (?) DKF168

JL Audio TR570

Infinity Ref 6812CF

It seems he's priced them all from the $69-$89 range, so i'm assumeing that's the price range he's looking at. Anybody know any of these speakers or have any thoughts on what would help? From my expirence (from when he complains whenever a car with *thud* bass drives by :p) he's looking for accurate sound that can give a decent level of loudness (i believe the recordings he listens to are recorded rather low)0

He needs to listen to them himself with the music he normally plays...

...if he's a Country & Western fan, then bring C & W music.

And personally, lose the Sony...

well as far as the sony goes...given the option between that and a bose, it's gotta be at least better by comparison :p and the reason i ask is because he can't find them to listen to them

He needs to listen to them. Everyone has different hearing and preferences. Speakers are not something that should be bought online without ever hearing or he may be unhappy

Listening to car speakers is highly overrated imo, mainly because the only real way to tell what they're gonna sound like is if you can listen to them in your car. I mean, you get a vague idea of their sound, but since the car is such a unique environment (in addition to having road noise most of the time), it's never gonna sound like it does in the store...
