What does this term mean? What are the advantages....display sizes?

From what I understand, DIN refers to the height of the radio. Single DIN is a normal 2" tall radio and double DIN is a 4" tall radio or nav/video screen. Many newer cars have factory radios that are double DIN sized.

Thats correct. Single-din is 7 X 2. Double-din is 7 X4. Seems that most car companies are moving towards double-din, and nearly all new vehicles will come with double-din in the next few years

a double-din touchscreen also feels more stable to the touch because there's no "give" or "sway" behind the screen, unlike with pop-out displays.
