Hello all,
I am trying to figure out what kind of amplifier I should get for my 12" Rockford Fosgate sub. I was looking at the Boss GT2500D. Previously I had a crappy Sony 760w amp that came with the sub when i bought it used.
I'm no expert with car audio, so any help would be appreciated! I'm trying to keep the price low, but sound quality high, if that's even possible.

Thank you,
JD

I want to keep the cost below $200.

I just found this amp Profile AP1200 at Crutchfield

(I can't post links yet )

I'm not sure what model my sub is, I will pull it out of the enclosure when I get home tonight.

Thank you for the help!

I just talked to RF, I gave them the info off the front of the speaker. It's in a sealed box so I can't take the speaker out.

The front of the speaker has a White RF swirl and says PUNCH H2 on it.

The support guy said it is a Dual Coil, and recommended a 2 omh stable amp.

So now I have a lead. Can you lovely people help me figure out what to go with?

Thank you,
JD

what i was really looking for is a model # so i could gather more info on RMS/max wattage. you can easily remove the sub by unscrewing the 6 wood screws, pull out sub far enough to read model # on back, and re-insert. replace screws. zero harm done. i am sorry, but still more info is needed....

I have a Memphis Car Audio MCD500 amp that does 250w @ 4 ohms and 500w @ 2 ohms. Pretty good power for it's small footprint (as with all Memphis amps). PM me if interested.

There is no way to tell what type of coil option just by looking at the front of the driver. I dont know what models they made but if what he says is right, you want an amp that makes most of it's power at 2 ohms. Sound quality is more dependant on the subwoofer and enclosure than it is the amp.
