After spending $1100+ on a KD-NX5000 and an external monitor I was surprised/annoyed to find out that the only thing that the HU outputs to the external monitor is DVD playback and Folder/Song data from a mp3 disc. The HDD, the nav or the ipod DOES NOT show up on the external monitor.
JVC should put this information on their literature/website.
I fail to understand why JVC did not just mirror the built-in screen to the external monitor output. If they can mirror DVD playback, then why not the nav?

Good News! I was able to swap out the JVC with a Pioneer AVIC-Z2. It was twice as expensive than the JVC, but even after using it for one day, I feel it's money well spent. The unit is awesome. Although, I wish the graphics on the screen looked like as on the iphone. I am spoiled.

Was it because of multi-zone video or something? That does seem strange.
