no, but it would be worth the extra $100 for some to have the 16gb built in and use another 16gb or whatever size in addition to the built in amount. it adds flexibility

thats neat. im getting closer to getting the HF10. i wish the new sony line had 24p. but it seems like the hf10 is the best non miniDV camcorder under $1,000. is there anything else (non miniDV, 24p), that compares?

How did you guys get that 20% off at dell? I just returned my HG10 to costco yesterday to get either the HF10 or HF100 but cant seem to find one under $850. I live in Cali so no tax would be cool too. Thanks guys.

Computers4sure is a reputable retailer. They are owned by Office Depot.

Dell had the sale on the HF10/100 on April 3rd. By April 4th, it was gone. However, my friend was able to call Dell and they sold him the HF10 at $200 off...so maybe if you call them they will give you the same deal. I also live in California, but Dell still charges sales tax for California residents.

BTW, Mac users, Roxio Toast 9.02 can burn HD blu-ray discs onto dvd's that will play in blu ray players and PS3. You just drop the raw avchd files from the Canon into roxio and burn.... you can also create nice HD photo slideshows and basic menu navigations as well....

toast will burn the data blu-ray discs as well if you a drive.... the blu-ray media is still pretty expensive though.... an hour of full HD content in a DVD-R DL is fine for now....

Dell now is showing the camcorder 6 WEEKS OUT! I called Canon and they stated they have no info as to when shipments will go out to vendors. B&H has a handful last Tuesday and back on backorder..

Ughhhhh... Also the 2GB file limit is being addressed by Pixela BUT it looks like its a software fix and not a camera fix!!

Looks like B&H is marking up the HF-10! 1199!!!! I cant believe it! Plus Dell now tells me 4/15!!! Which now they just keep upping it a week.

B&H taking advantage?? Not like them. They just got inventory in again and mark it up?

There is a guy on Ebay selling the HF100 for $759.99 plus $15.34 shipping. He states that he is an authorized Canon dealer so the warranty is valid. He also sells the HF10 for $999.99 plus $19.32 shipping. He has good feedback to. I am in no way vouching for this guy, I just wanted to let everyone know.

B and H has not inflated the price.
They are selling for $1099.00 which is MSRP and it is in stock as of April 7, 2008.

Sorry the links aren't working. But his Ebay name is: ccr810

You can look it up in the Ebay search to find his auction listings.

I got mine HF10 from Dell. Paid $950 plus tax and shipping. Total $1016. Not the greatest bargain but I am realy impressed with this little camera. I had time to play with my son's SR11 and I am not sorry I did not go with Sony. Not that there is anything wrong with Sony but HF10 has much faster focus in less than perfect light. The only think I am not very happy about is AVCHD backup options. Canon burner DW100 is good only for direct disc burn from the camcoder. Other than that it is totaly useless. I tried Sony's AVCHD burner VRD-MC5. It is much more versatile unit but Sony geniuses made it burn only SD discs with anything except Sony Camcoder. Are there any other options for burning AVCHD discs?

Just as a reminder, that when you buy using your Amex from a decent online retailer, your warranty is extended 2 more years, whereas ebay sales are not included....something to consider. Plus much easier to get service on authorized dealers instead of ebayers

Kosinar impossible. Dell has yet received stock of the HF-10.. Maybe you have the model number mixed up. I have been working with Dell Corporate and they confirmed they have yet receive stock. I placed my order on 3/20/08.. Now says 4/15

I received my HF100 from Computers4sure today, they have come through again. I messed around with it a little, the silver is really nice. I actually prefer the silver, plus it doesn't show fingerprints.

The camera is nice and compact and fits in the hand well. The controls are easy to manage and the on screen menu is simple to navigate. Took a few minutes of footage on auto and the picture looks awesome. Then again this is my first HD camcorder so take my opinion with a big grain of salt.

I will do some real testing and give you guys a report soon. So far it looks like a keeper.

Why in the world would I post any BS. I ordered it through our Company Dell account for $949 March 18. I even canceled that order when they had it for sale for $899 and reordered it for the sale price. It shipped regardless of cancelation. They called me and appologized for the error and asked me to just ship it back. I just kept it. They must have received some quantity. I am sure I am not the only one getting one from them. It looks like you were 2 days late with your order.

Impossible then.. The sale for $899 was on Thursday and it was for 1 day and they had NO stock. I specifically called and they stated if I cancelled my order and reordered I would go to the back of the stock.

Did you pay for overnight delivery? Today is Tuesday.

I messed around with the HF100 for about 2 hours, basically reading the manual and getting comfortable with the controls.

First off the video quality is excellent. I took some video indoors at low light and then took some outside where it was a sunny day. Both scenes played back with excellent color reproduction and clarity. The outside video was very impressive, the color reproduction and clarity were spot on. Blue skies were a perfect blue and green grass was a vibrant green. The sharpness of the picture was very clean.

The inside pictures were not quite as good, but that is because of the low light in my house. I needed to do some tweaking first, but even at the factory settings the picture was very good.

The auto focus is quick and the image stabilization works like a charm. The 12x zoom really gets you in tight and brings in those distant shots fast. The camera really takes some fantastic video.

The menu is easy to navigate and gives you loads of options. All the controls fit well in my hand, and I would say I have average size hands for a guy. Love the small size and it hardly weighs anything at all.

One thing that really impressed me was the still photos, they are above and beyond what I expected. Now granted this isn't a DSLR, but I think most people would be impressed with these photos, especially considering they are from a camcorder. Honestly for me this is all I need, why carry a separate point & shoot when this camcorder does it all. Very impressive photo quality.

Well that's all I have got for now. Please remember that I am a novice so I do not have the knowledge or experience as a lot of you guys. But as far as I am concerned the HF100 is worth every penny. Nothing better than being completely satisfied with a purchase. Awesome camera top to bottom.

BTW, if you have any questions just let me know.

I checked with them ahead of time, they are an authorized canon retailer.... I used amex, but via paypal, so maybe that doesn't count?
