For everyone's information, I just bought a HF100 at Newegg for $899 (MSRP) with free 3-day shipping and had it in exactly three days. Since it looks like people are having trouble with low stock, it might be easier than waiting around for a better deal.

Are you getting this date from the order status page? I find that Dell's order status page is often wrong. I previously ordered a cell phone from them, it said it will ship in two weeks, I called them to cancel, and they told me that it's actually scheduled to ship out the same day, and I got a tracking number that night.

I called Dell again on this camcorder, and they said it's scheduled to ship 4/24 for me. It's better to call them for a date.

Hmm...interesting. Newegg.com and Dell both uses Ingram Micro as a distributor, so if newegg has the HF10 in stock, then Dell should be shipping soon!

If you are having trouble finding one then why don't you go on Ebay? They are selling for $749.99 plus shipping and the seller is an authorized Canon dealer so the warranty is valid.

Amazon also has the Hf100 in stock, $842.99 and free shipping. Circuit City has them for $839.99.

I'm actually looking to get the HF10. I like the black better than the silver. I got in on Dell's 899.99 deal. I'm not going on vacation until early May, so I can wait a while. It just would be nicer to get it earlier so I can play with it, but for 899.99, I'm not going to complain much.

For those with the HF10, is there a way to record to the removable card 1st and then use the on board 16mb memory 2nd for backup? I'm worried that it would switch from the 16mb to the removable in the middle of a scene and not sync up right. Any experience with this yet?

Final Cut Pro 6, IMovie 8 and Final Cut Express (the latest version, don't know it off the top of my head) all also edit AVCHD.

And MediaLink is a great streaming solution for playing anything on your Mac (in a PS3 supported format, like AVCHD) on the PS3.

Also received mine hf100 from computer4sure.

Ordered on Saturday and I was worried since I did not get any email confirmation for a couple of days. Confirmation finally came around noon on Monday, and now I have it in my hands.

The look is pretty good. I don't have a problem with the silver color, and fits nicely in my hand.

One thing that I did not expect is that it does not have a viewfinder. LCD only. I was going for the HG10 (which BTW does have a view finder), then saw this new model with solid state memory, and the good price, so made a quick decision without doing much research. Anyhow, given the small size, I don't see how they can include it, and I'd rather Canon not add it to bulky up the size/weight. Guess I just have to learn how to shoot with the LCD screen open.

Once you guys get your cameras and play around, would it be possible to post a couple of raw video files somewhere? I'm shopping for a new camcorder, and one of the issues I'm trying to figure out is whether I have enough computer to edit and render these 1920 x 1080 HD files before I spring for $1000. Thanks.

You can assign what media you want the camera to record to. I have a 16mb card that I will use. If somehow I fill that up I can either put another card in or tell the camera to use the built in memory. It does not switch until you tell it to.

Is the HF100 or HF10 true 1920 x 1080 p recording? That is at full HD at 60 frames/sec.?

Or are they still interface? If so, is there any new camcorder that c/w true HD--1920x1080p at 60 frames/sec?

HF10/100 do "true 1920x1080p recording" (@30fps), but not 1920x1080p60.
It can do 1920x1080p24, 1920x1080p30, 1920x1080i60.

I have spoken directly with Pixela regarding this "problem" and was informed the software can correctly reassemble multiple files comprising one contiguous clip up to one hour in length. After that point, apparently the software gives up leading to dropped video frames and dropped audio samples at each successive splice point if it's anything like the 2GB problem with the HG10. Of course, it would be easy for a new owner to verify.

Canon has chosen not to take responsibility with either the HG10 or the HF10/100, instead, placing responsibility on the software vendors. At least with the HG10, the copy /b command works. But you must know which .mts files belong to the original contiguous clip. Not sure about using that command with the HF10/100 since it seems reasonable that the cam must tag some type of metadata onto the broken clip files in order for the Pixela software to recognize which files belong to the original long, contiguous clip and which ones don't (unless it embeds that info in the date/time stamp of each broken file - suppose that would do it).

Clearly, Canon's implementation of AVCHD is flawed compared to Sony's or maybe Panny's (don't know since no Panny owner has ever confirmed how a Panny AVCHD cam handles 2GB file limits and reassembly). One of the primary advantages of AVCHD over HDV is the elimination of the tape time limit. That simply is not materializing with these Canon consumer AVCHD cam's and they have thusfar washed their hands of any responsibility. I personally went around and around with their support staff for three months on this issue and in the end was told to find different software.

Piss on Canon - I would never recommend their AVCHD cam's at this point.

just posted this on another thread, but meant to post it here:
Most of these "great" deals are scams. Use common sense. For all you know, they even get people to post great reviews about them on the internet. resellerratings.com usually gives you the truth. Dell has had a couple of great deals, but I'm glad I didn't buy because it sounds like a nightmare. I'd say your best bet is Amazon for a decent deal or newegg to get it right away. Circuit City also has a 10% off promo going on so that's not too bad either! Just please, please do not get sucked into those stupid bait & switch scams.

I've ordered from Dell a few times, and it seems like if you have the time to spare, you can usually get a good deal. Even though the HF10 is still shown as out of stock, Dell has just put it on sale again for $899.99. Although I don't quite agree with their practice of running up demand on something they don't have in stock yet, I just can't resist the deal, since I have a few more weeks before I'll be needing this camera.

No matter how low the price, it's a terrible idea to order from that company. I think it's one of those Brooklyn scammers. Check out their reviews: http://www.resellerratings.com/store...s4SURE#reviews

Oh, and Dell sucks big time too. Don't even think about getting their financing. It's a robbery that is designed to make you pay several times the price of the product. They tell you the interest rate is whatever, but then they charge you "finance fees" up the clouds.

is this a joke? if not...LOL what are you talking about Brooklyn scammers? get a clue. its a part of Office Depot for one, and two they are large reputable company that have been in business for as long as i can remember. so much for your "terrible idea to buy from there" wisdom.
