The bottom image, as small as it is, is obviously sharper than the 550 image.

We are actually in total agreement on that one Ungermann. I am more impressed with what I've seen from the Sony than from what I've seen from the 900. Given there aren't many clips out there yet, it's not 100%, but based on what is, the Sony is really very impressive and I haven't said that about a Sony in a long long time.

I posted the photo because there were only two ways to avoid it in 550 - one was zooming in a bit, the other - using lens hood - and CX700 apparently comes with lens hood.

Blue dot appeared on 550 footage shot wide open in bright light, with sun at a certain angle.

Good question. I didn't think the blue dot issue was that severe. Wasn't that just a form of lens flare?

Djandrea, do you have a video that shows the blue dot on the 560?

Also, since you have both the 550 & 560, have you found the 560 better in loe light? To my eyes the 560 low light pix is obviously sharper as are the videos I've seen, but you'd be the better judge on low light performance.

I'm tempted to buy one today. If Amazon listed them as in stock, I just might pick up the Sony. But too many questions remain about it. I'm not worried about the $1,300 because I knew I would buy either the Sony or the Panny. I just wanted to see which one is the clear winner.
B&H Photo only has a 15 day return policy. Amazon will give me 30 days. My wife says I should buy both try them out and return the one I don't like.

The thing is I can't put any video on my ancient laptop. The Sandy Bridges recall pushed everything back a month at least. The revised chipsets just started shipping yesterday.

Argh! so frustrating because I really need it soon.

So is Sony using WMV files instead of mts files? If this is a RAW file I believe it should be mts.

No question the 560 has crisper pics. I can see that everything is sharper in that pic. The low light performance comes at a cost of reduced sharpness.

Then it really isn't a RAW file. Raw files are unedited, so you have lost your original video quality. I just downloaded it, took a while and will check it out later today on the 52" with the PS3.

Regardless, the pic was sharper on the 560. Look at the edges of the buildings in the background. The 550 is fuzzy whereas the 560 is crisp and sharp.

I don't see any cost in low light performance with the 560. It's crisper and cleaner at the same time. Win win in my book.

I'm not crazy about the look of that lens hood. I think the one that's on the HF-G10 is much nicer looking. But hey, it's performance that counts in the end.

The hood is ugly as hell, they had to make a hole for the flash, as such the hood is not ideal to shade the lens from the light above. Eww. Bulky and ineffective. But nothing is perfect.

From what I remembered they price matched me and gave me a percentage of the difference which was around $35, so I got overnight shipping with that money. they don't free ship but who cares if you're saving $200
