One practically always neglected point is how well the camera compresses highlights. That means, whether you get blue skies or a washed out white area.
Sony does a better job at compressing highlights. I have an older Sony camera (CX550) and accidentally found, that they dynamically change the gamma curve for the top part of the highlights, even if the exposure is set to a fixed value.
When comparing, please take this into account - take a bit of sky/clouds into the picture together with other objects, as well as some bright objects - highlights and reflections on cars, plants, buildings, etc.
