I am looking for some suggestions for an HD recorder. I am hoping for the following features:

- 1080p
- water resistant
- tripod mountable
- image stabilization
- night recording (low priority)

Thanks,
Scott

Looks like a good possibility. The only thing I can't see from the spec is whether it is tri-pod mountable. Is this a standard feature among cameras? (I know very little about cameras and camcorders).

Hi Scott - yes, a tripod mount is standard. And the Sony looks like a great camera. But if you don't want to spend $698 for the HDR-GW77V, another possibility is the much less expensive $279 Panasonic HX-WA2. It shoots 1080p and is waterproof down to about 10 feet of depth.

Cheers,

Bill
