I have bunch of old Sony analogue Video 8 tapes and just bought a second hand Sonay Digital /Hi 8 camcorder planning to do the conversion.
However, this second hand camcorder has only the RCA output connector, no Firewire.
I just wonder is there really converted video quality differences in using RCA and Firewire methods?
For RCA one, I will use EasyCap.
You should have purchased a Digital8 camcorder to play back your Video8 tapes. A Digital8 camcorder plays back Video8/Hi8 tapes and has a Firewire output, which you can connect to your PC for a seamless analog to digital conversion.
Alternatively, you can get an ADVC110, which is an analog to digital converter box. You plug the output of your Hi8 camera into the ADVC110 and then connect your ADVC110 to your PC using Firewire. http://www.grassvalley.com/products/advc110
EasyCap video capture is rather poor, I personally wouldn't be happy with the quality of this...
