Hi All, I have been enjoying reading posts in this site and I finally become a member of AVS. I have a question about the Panasonic HC-V700. If on recording mode and the screen closes without pulsing the button to stop, the camera is still recording. It has finally happen to me with this new camera (I used to make fun of my wife and father in low for doing so in the past. shame on me! Is there a way to prevent recording accidental with the LCD screen closed or to stop recording when the screen closes? Even if the button is not pressed again to stop recording
Thanks,
Michael

Welcome to the community. You might be better posting your question in the the V700 thread here.

I know of no way to stop recording video by closing the LCD screen. From the v700 owners manual "The unit will not turn off while recording motion pictures even if the LCD monitor is closed".

By design. What if you want to set up a long (timewise) shot, then close the screen to conserve battery and to prevent others looking into the screen?

The camcorder will turn off when it is not recording (in pause mode) and you close the screen. This is very convenient, open the LCD, shoot, close the LCD. I am surprised Canon did not copy this approach.
