Thanks, Bill. I clearly need to get a life. I saw this after I posted my 2000th (not realizing the immense gravity). Hopefully it is helpful.

Btw, I have now gone to wireless video!

It seems to me that you don't need a new life quite yet. Traveling the world and shooting video might be good for a little while longer!

I do, in fact, have a new life! It's called retirement. I spent most of my working life selling small aircraft. I had to be busy. Taking the time to sit still to study anything besides aircraft got in the way. Now I'm teaching myself to sit still long enough to enjoy the study of "digital graphic arts". It started here with video. Your HX9V thread convinced me to get a camera that took photos too. Current study has a lot to do with photos, Lightroom Photoshop and mixing them. Removing phone wires from a photo is a hoot. Maybe I can figure out how to do that with a video clip! I also hope to use the interest in "digital graphic arts" to further enhance an already wonderful relationship with my granddaughters.

There are so many things I don't understand yet that I had to make a "graphic arts" to do list to stay focused.

Next week I'll retrace a tour through the Grand Canyon, Gallup and a little Navajo country. This time I'm armed with some photo and video skills with much better equipment than ever before.

I'm a little behind! What is wireless video and what do you use if for?

The new cameras and camcorders have wifi - this enables you to wirelessly view what the camera sees and control it wirelessly (zoom, change settings, snap or shoot video) on your Android phone or tablet (Apple too) more than 200 ft away. Great for wildlife (birds, etc.). Plus, like a cell phone camera, one can share the pictures/videos easily on those phones/tablets (every family member has one, right?) so the whole family can see instantly what you took without all gathering around the camera. It's not essential, you can turn it off, but it seems a useful addition.

I agree, the wi-fi control feature on the new Panasonic cameras is very useful. I have used it not only to send pictures from the field, but also for nice candid photos, when people don't know that the camera is on.

Bill B.

P.S. Congrats on going over 2000, Mark!

Thanks. I hadn't thought of that use (only for birds!).
