I'm surprised that no thread has already been started about this, so I will. (And if I'm wrong, moderators please feel free to delete.)
Nokia is introducing their Lumia 1020 into the Canadian market next month and I'm rather excited about it because it has a ........ get this ........... 41
megapixel camera that takes very good stills and it also takes 1080p 30 fps video that looks, if the internet can be believed, really good for such a small unit. It even has a digital zoom (a siimple crop and zoom of the huge sensor) that is very effective, too.
Here's a link that discusses the 1020's video and also has a link to a very good video clip recorded by a National Geographic photographer (at the behest of Nokia, no doubt):
How's this for a still photo?
I am no cell phone fan, yet I find the features of this cell phone to be simply amazing. I'd like to have it just as a 41 megapixel (!!!!) still camera and 1080p camcorder.
And if there's one thing I've learned about cameras over the past 50 years it is that the smaller the camera is, the more likely I am to use it, so this tiny thing would be very easy to carry around as both a phone and a camera. Being a phone makes it even more likely that it will be carried and, therefore, available to be used as a camera.
