Will, I wear glasses and have problems with the EVF. Can you provide more details about the eye cup please ?

Did the same to the camera mike, makes a big difference to wind noise. But the fibers are only about 1" long

Hi Eugene,

I purchased the eye cup on this website:

https://www.adcom.it/en/production-r...315_2788_33329
This is the only website that send the product to Singapore,

it might be easier/cheaper to get it in USA. eg http://www.fullcompass.com/product/460675.html

The eye cup fits nicely to the the EVF

Panasonic Part number is VYC1080

The mic is from Rotolight roto-mic, official website:

http://www.rotolight.com/shop/pro-au...und-light-kit/

I purchased it as it was on promotion at a local shop and I wanted to get the ring light.

Some modification on the mic's hot shoe is required for direct connection, using a file (tool) I shape the mic base to fit the sony proprietary hot shoe.

Hot shoe adapter suitable for AX100 is available:

http://shop.dm-accessories.com/products/mis-shoe

The shotgun mic made a difference when shooting outdoor especially during travels.

I try to avoid capturing wind noise and minimize noise from people beside me.

The FiiO E6 Fujiyama Portable Headphone Amplifier which I purchased from Ebay helps me to amplify the mic sound.
I attached it to the mic using a velcro.

The camcorder manual audio rec level around +3

Will

Chenderson 2, Ken

I am unable to play m2ts 24 fps camcorder videos on the Probox2 EX.

Any inputs?

What's m2ts? What produces it? The only types of videos I attempted are .mov and mp4.
There are several movie playing apps on the probox. Have your tried all of them?

.m2ts is what comes from a lot of Sonys and Panasonics that should AVCHD 1920x1080p60. It was what we used to call a high quality video format!

Don't have one, but the AX100 may make those files if you choose the "old" setting.

When you choose the AVCHD mode on the AX100 these .m2t files reside in the bottom of the camera's generated folders and sub-folders. For Chenderson 2, these will show up on your Mac as .mts at the bottom of those convoluted folders. Both FCPX and iMovie handle those just fine upon ingest and generate separate clips for edits with no pain like they do with UHD .mp4 files from the camera. These standalone.mts files cannot be played back inside either of the NLEs without first being converted into the .mov format on ingest.

Thanks for the replies.

M2TS is MPEG2- Transport Stream

Will not play an 24FPS video in that container, I believe the problem is the 24 frames. Was just testing different AX100 outputs.

Eugene

EDIT: Thanks for pointing out the availability of other decoders, I found one that takes 24P

Can someone tell me whether a Probox or any media player enables seemless playback of the Sony 4k files or I need to use the ax100 in order to play the clips seamlessly.

The PB2 will not play files seamlessly but one after an other with a break. The AX100 will play original individual files as one.

There are some good low cost 4K editors out there. I use PowerDirector 13.

Hi All,
Just got back from a week away to find my brand new AX100 has arrived, yippppeee.

Now to get down to learning how to use this beast to the best.
I had not realised how heavy it is compared to my previous panasonic 920,,, I nearly tried to put it on my shoulder as I did about 20 years ago with the camcorders then lol.

One thing I did not know was it did not come with a built in flash so is the shoe on top a special "Sony Only" one or can I look for other makes. I really don't do very much photo stuff so a cheaper type flash would be fine,,, any suggestions from people out there, or would I be better going for a cheap video light instead?.

I read somewhere that 1/60 shutter is a must for setting but what are the effects for lower & higher settings.

After many demo's I have decided to get the latest 70inch 4K from Sony,, to me, with the AX100 it is a match made in heaven and far superior to using the Probox 2.

Ho Ho Ho Merry Christmas all

Merry christmas jgwatt,

The cheapest solution is to purchase a low cost LED video light and the Hot shoe adapter suitable for AX100 http://shop.dm-accessories.com/products/mis-shoe

If the video light shoe is made of ABS material, it can be shaped to fit the AX100 shoe using a small file (tool) .

I'd also get the video light instead of the flash. The stills from the AX100 are JPEG-only (no RAW) and not very good; you will get better results from an RX100.

Here is the video I took with the Ax-100 last Sunday in Tomball, Texas at their German Christmas Market. I'm still amazed at the quality I continue to get from it. Only shortcoming is lack of 60fps. But, that would overreach what the ports on most TVs will currently support, I believe.

Great video, as usual. What settings did you use? Looking at some of my stuff, I wished I had gone down 1/2 f stop.

Used camera mike ?

Yes here too, that camera is going to be around a while.

Apparently a new camcorder(/s) is rumoured to arrive at CES in a few weeks. So perhaps we will have new toys to talk about soon

Used camera mike ? All music was recorded with the external Sony mike that plugs into the hot shoe. Most scenes were shot with -.2 to -.5 EV. Scenes with backlight were set at 0. Any loss in music quality was probably due to the sound systems at the various stages. They were all set too loud.

Yes here too, that camera is going to be around a while.

Hi jgwatt,

I shoot mostly in (AX100 25p model settings) 1/50 shutter speed fixed.

Most of my videos are set to F2.8-F5.6 depending on situations.

Zebra to check and ND filters to counter exposure issue.

Seldom use higher settings, lower setting probably for low light situation but requires a tripod.

Warning about locking in a low shutter speed: I did it in Europe and got a few overexposed shots until I realized the auto ND doesn't work on all 3 settings. You will need to switch to manual mode on the ND when using a locked in low shutter speed outdoors.

Yes it is very true, especially if it is an overcast day.

While I was traveling on a mountain above the cloud, I had to be very careful with exposure.

All the scenes are white and by using the white balance cap, most of the white balance at 8-9k, ,manual ND filter 3.

JVC above and there are rumors about Canon but not in the consumer price range.

No details on what it will be however, but I would guess an updated version of the AX100 would be reasonable.

Eugene, motion will appear more smooth, with less of the high shutter speed look.
