I need to purchase a professional camcorder to record student presentations. I need a digital camera where I can immediately send an electronic file to the student or copy their presentation on a USB memory stick. I also need to be able to record directly to a computer gard drive. I've been looking at the Sony HXR-MC2000U. Any help appreciated. Richard

Hi Richard - if, by "professional", you mean a shoulder-mounted camcorder like the MC2000U - you can get a more capable, newer camera in the same category for less money - either the <$1200 Panasonic AG-AC8 - or, for about the same price, the JVC GY-HM70U.

Here is the image quality you can expect from the Panasonic:

Any modern camera records to SD cards, which can easily be transferred to computer hard drives and thence to USB sticks.

Hope this is helpful!
