Is there an industry standard HD camcorder for filming nudes in HD?

First of all let me start off by saying I am describing nudity filmed in good taste. Not the explicit kind.

In the past 10 years there have been several subscription based websites that have tried to offer short films (downloadable and in some cases streaming) of nude modeling but with mixed results.

My interest in these short films started when many of these websites started to offer their films in HD.

Now my question to you is if there is any kind of an industry standard HD camcorder for filming nudes in HD?

By industry standard I mean what is deemed acceptable and non acceptable in terms of HD video quality.

I have seen content labeled as HD which was amazing and I have seen content labeled as HD which was absolutely terrible. There have been many times where I have said to myself... "I could have done a better job."

I am a novice when it comes to HD camcorders. Perhaps I am being too critical? I dont know.

If necessary I can provide examples/links of the kind of content I am talking about but I want to make sure ahead of time if this is appropriate or not.

I am new here and I do not want to get banned on my first day.

I think the Canon Ti TS used to be the standard - the movie version of the Ti Rebel.

(Please forgive me, I couldn't resist - haven't been on this forum for a few weeks)

The AX100 would be a good camcorder choice if it's within your budget.

I advise against nudes in 4K, get something with a soft lens

Nothing wrong with seeing God's artwork in great detail.

OK, I gotta stop myself from making another joke.

When HD came on the scene it caused a lot of casualties.
Many entire back catalogs of short films suddenly became obsolete and many businesses went belly up.

If 4K were to become the norm I wonder if the same thing would happen to all the HD back catalogs?

I would hope not.

I don't think I'd entirely blame HD for that. People being easily able to find videos online for free would also be a cause. For sure shooting stuff in 4K now would be an advantages over the competition before everyone else starts shooting in 4K.

No.

Maybe a better question to ask is: "is their an industry-standard HD camcorder for use in professional filmmaking?"

And even then, the answers are all over the map. What I would say is that if the camera can't shoot 10-bit images, the end results are compromised because it won't have the dynamic range to handle large amounts of correction in post. The image starts to fall apart if you tweak it too hard. This is a huge problem for otherwise high-quality DSLR's like the Canon 5D or the Sony A7S, all of which are 8-bit.

So the answer basically is: "whatever you can get away with." I've always preached that 90% of picture quality hinges on lighting and lenses, so get that right and you can use damn near anything, short of a GoPro.

If I had to go out and get something cheap tomorrow, you could do a lot worse than the Blackmagic cameras. I think they're noisy when underlit, but give them enough light and they look OK.

Do you think the switch from HD to 4K will be as drastic as the switch to HD from everything prior to that?

I was going to go to my local Sony Store to take a look at the AX100 only to find out my local Sony Store was closed by Sony a couple of months ago.

Most BestBuy's (US) carry the AX100 and have it on display.

I went to Best Buy a few days ago and the display model was not working.
A common Best Buy experience in the area which I live.

A sales associate did inform me however to expect a price drop on Black Friday.
