Possible upgrade ???

HI ALL!

Now the GoPro has released the Hero 6 which do you think would be the next upgrade from Sony BEFORE X-MAS?????
FDR-X3000 or the RX-100 V

Thank You,
Luis

I have the Sony FDR-X3000 with OIS and the Hero 6 still does not have OIS. I don't think there will be any new Sony cameras before CES 2018 on January 7th.

Sony are facing difficult choices on their next consumer action cam. Xiaomi's Yi set the standard that GoPro has just belatedly followed. If Sony want to stay relevant they need at least 4K/60p or 240fps or above at 1080p on their new cam because there is no money to be made nor anyone to get excited anymore at 4K/30p. Hordes of Chinese knockoffs are now selling that at far lower than $100. Sony have their obviously higher end RX0 to avoid too so you could expect some sort of "market segmentation" features built into the new camera. If there ever is one.

Sony does not have to be relevant to enthusiasts who enjoy the cutting edge and participate on forums. Sony's bread and butter is the mass of all the other consumers. Staying relevant to them is a different challenge.

Hi all:
Thank you for your response they are all well taken, I tend to agree with Jogiba nothing is going to happen until CES Jan 2018 as far as Sony is concern.
GoPro has definitely made some improvements in their stabilization which cont to be Electronic but in my opinion never like the Optical of the X3000 which I have and BOSS system still King, I also use an adapter to use it with the SmoothQ gimbal and that thing does not move at all. In addition the color of the GoPro Dynamic range or called it what you want blows the highlights, and is too bright and poorly saturated in comparison to the x3000.
recently saw a video with the 6 and the x3000 side by side and all the garage doors of the houses were all blown out with no detail.
In addition I think that CES is the right timing for the upgrade of the RX-100V hopefully for the 4K/60p and the horrendos 5 min limit on 4K.

Thank You
Luis

Hi Jogiba:
The first movie is precisely the one I saw and commented in my reply look at the front of all the houses and the windows and garage doors on the GoPro all washed out, blown out with no detail and no saturation
very bad in my opinion compared to the Sony X3000.

Thanks,
Luis
