Anyone have a comment or opinion on this camcorder? it says it has a native of 16:9 with a bunch of other highlights. I have never used or owned a camcorder. I do have a 720p 60" Sony HDTV...might be fun to see the grand kids on this TV. If I upgraded to a Blu-Ray player would I be able to playback these 8cm disks? If there is another forum area I should be posting to I apologize for butting in here.
Thank you.
Jake

This is a standard definition (SD) camcorder, you don't need a blu ray or HD DVD player to play the disc, any regular DVD player will do. Just be aware since it's at SD resolution, the video will not look as good as HD programs or video shot with a high definition camcorder on your 60" TV.

Thank you for your reply, I'm going to go for a HD camcorder after all I have a HD set so for me I think that will be my choice. Now it's down to format, brand and specs.

With HD camcorders, sharing video with others would be problematic. You can try to burn the files to DVD discs using either HD DVD or Blu Ray format (no guarantee it would work though), but not many people have the players to play the discs back.
