I have a Control4 HC 300 that I would like to connect to an overhead JVC RS 10 unit for the purpose of serial control. My first question is regarding the CAT5/6 serial adaptor to DB9. I understand at most, only 4 of the 8 wires are needed. Is it a matter of simply making sure that pin1 on the HC300 side goes to pin1 on the RS 10 side, pin2 to pin2.. etc or does someone have a pinout that shows which pin number connects to which pin number?

Once I know the serial connection is set, has anyone tried the RS1 driver with the RS 10 or does anyone have an RS 10 driver for their control4 system?

Thank you for any assistance

Typically you only need three wires for serial control (without handshaking). On the DB9 connection it is pin 5 for GND, Pin 2 for TX and Pin 3 for RX.
