I'm trying not to stick an emitter on the front of my plasma if possible. I'm trying to set up an iPad as a remote. I'm using a global cache cg-100-12 and irule. It has been quite easy thus far (thanks to past pronto exp.). So I have everything working but why stop now. So I now want to get rid of as many emitters as possible. If the port will work I will most likely get a Xantech 79144 to control my cable box and tv. Otherwise I'll stick with the emitter path

can the software/app do 232 commands? if so then it should work however you will lose ability to control network features of the TV if it has them such as netflix etc..

Why would he lose the ability to control Netflix?
