Can anyone advise how I can connect my pc (HP laptop with some years on it) to my Harman Kardon AVR 247 receiver so I can run and control Netflix streaming onto my TV? My pc has no HDMI port so I am not sure how I can connect it (I think the RS-232 serial port is data only?)

Thanks!

If your laptop has a VGA port, check to see if your TV also has a VGA port or PC in port. If so, connect the two using a vga cable and connect the audio to your HK with a 1/8" to RCA cable. If your TV has no VGA port, you may be able to use a VGA to component cable. Make sure your TV supports the resolutions output by your video card.

But seriously consider buying a streaming player such as Roku, WDTV, or a blu ray player that has Netflix built in. These can be had for under $60.

^^^^ What he said re: streaming players. I'd add the AppleTV to the list.

Thanks for the advice. Actually....I have an iPad which I keep forgetting about and could use. I believe i can connect to my TV and play from this, using a digital AV adapter and HDMI cable I think....which would mean no need to get AppleTV.
