Hi,

I put a bunch of insteon gear in a prevous house back in 2008 and had similar issues to what I've read here about the micro switches and sometimes the boxes themselves going out.

A quick search on the forum here does show much recent talk.

Anyone still running them? How are the new units holding up?

I'm building a theater again, and while insteon is not cheap, its still way cheaper than things like the grafix eye (assuming the new units are doing a little better).

Thanks!

I've been running Insteon for the last three years in my house. It has been generally reliable, with a couple of module failures that were probably related to power surges/lows or breakers popping than any manufacturing defect. I haven't had any of the micro switch failures like folks from years past. Check into the ISY and their forums for some up to date info. If you go Insteon, get an ISY right from the start.

I installed about 25 insteon devices in my house (a mix of PLC-only and dual band) and have had 0 issues with it. I can't wait to get an ISY to start building out scenes.

I am interested any opinions as well. I saw a slew of Insteon products at the local Best Buy which piqued my interest. I have been considering adding some additional lighting control to our system and maybe t-stat and video monitoring. The cost of the Insteon stuff is dirt cheap in comparison to Crestron infinet devices. Probably should tell me something but it is very tempting!

No controller. Right now, they're just really expensive switches. I'm waiting for another used ISY to go live on e B a y so I can get a controller.

I have well over 150 insteons bought like 5 years ago, lost 2 in 5 years and probably my fault they burned out. the staging wires throughout the house are pretty tricky

I am currently using a smartlinc but would love to get ISY myself. More along the lines of the power I am used to with Control4.
